Here is a funny blue candle story. I have two lue candles. But I have cats so I don't light them. I had a cat. Catch fire from a candle. So I am. Artful. My son Steve came home on leave and commented on the candles and I told him about the blue candle program where you light one if you miss your sailor. His face fell as he said, " you haven't lit either of these."

Disy  My twin Stephen was at Pensacola he graduated in June and is on board the USS Bainbridge on a 7 month deployment.  He loves it and has seen more of the world in 5 weeks than I ever will.

Twin 2 Sam is at Goose Creek, S. Carolina in Nuke school, that is the one having difficulties

Co-twin,
It's so funny even though we had 3 boys, "the boys" were the twins. I went to MEPS with my Navy son, Cameron in January and his two brothers were both there. Since his twin was leaving in a few weeks to go back to college where he's extremely happy, I think he just felt happy for his brother and also a little fear for him. My oldest, Brady, was leaving for the Army three weeks later, so I did try to keep it together so he wouldn't feel too bad when he left.
I had very different feelings about each one enlisting. Cameron had been in and out of community college and hadn't been able to find his niche. It was hard because his twin, Colin, was loving college, on the Deans list, etc. So I was thrilled when Cameron enlisted because I knew he made a wise decision and it would give him a better future. My biggest worry with him was that he would somehow not make it through boot camp and come home in worse straits than before. With Brady it's a very different feeling. He's a college graduate, he turned down a commission to be an officer because it was in the reserves and he's in training for special forces and signed on for five years. I felt the loss of him leaving much more acutely for some reason. I was lucky that Colin took a bus home from Connecticut to be with us when we went to MEPS with Brady. it was a different experience both times at MEPS. When Cam went, he was the only shipper and we spent about an hour with him. With Brady there were many shippers and they swore them in in groups. we spent a few hours waiting and then about two minutes to say goodbye afterwards. No matter how it goes, it's a tough day, but there's also a sense of relief because the anticipation is so hard.

Co-twin, I sympathize, my boy was so worried a out one of his certification exams, he was sure he wouldn't pass. But the instructor was encouraging and he took advantage of study groups and he did pass. It's so hard from a distance but texting is so great to send encouragement before the tests.

Sierrascrapper I laughed at your name thing too.
What was your experience when your wheat both with you and the twin left behind 3boysmom?
Sam did not do well on his first nuke test. He is going to work harder to take it again. Pray.

Too funny ladies...yes they will always be "the boys". Like you said doubletrouble...they are a package deal. Hang in there and stay strong. I'm so glad we are all here together and understand the twin bond and the military bond. It's going to be tough for Jacob to see you going through that hard first week after Darien leaves. Just remember we are all here for you. Let it all out in those moments when your son can't see you.

CO-twin the salmon thing made me laugh!

Our joke about the boys is we have Nathan and
Jo-Nathan.

Remember that Darien most likely will be dealing with his own feelings when his twin leaves.

When mine were about 4 someone asked Sam what his whole name was and he responded, " Salmon" as I always called them SamandSteve.

That is really a great picture. A real cherished shot, nice tiger too.

Sorry I haven't responded lately, i have been reading all the posts and just thinking to myself, these ladies really do know what I'm going through.
I too call mine the "the boys" like they are a package deal!
Cathymg, I understand your panic, the first of my 2 leave Aug. 6 &the other a week later on Aug. 13. I hope I'm not a total mess after Darien leaves, it will make it so hard on Jacob when he leaves to know how bad I'm handling it.
I love all the words of encouragement ladies! It is exactly what I need.
