Thanks for starting this group CO-twin. I have twin boys who turn 18 in October. They are complete opposites of each other even though they are a lot alike. I think one purposely is taking a different path so that they don't seem alike. LOL The 1st twin Nathanael plans on going to the community college working on a degree to be a HS teacher. He goes to a career/tech high school and his dream is to teach in a school like that. The 2nd twin Jonathan will be going to BC next July 1st. He just came to us back in May and said he wanted to join the Navy. So, we took him down to recruiter's office and got the ball rolling. I asked twin 1 what he thought about his brother joining the Navy and he said..."my brother does what he wants." I'm not sure if he's jealous or what, but I think so a little bit. Since they go to different high schools, they each get a different amount of attention because of the different activities they are involved in. He thinks his brother gets more attention because his brother is in marching band. Deep down I worry for twin 1, as he is the free spirit and he's a LOT like me. I had plans to go to college first then join the Navy, but well life happens and I didn't finish college or go into the Navy. I don't have a lot of regrets as I have a good husband and I wouldn't give up our life with our boys for nothing! Who knows, maybe some day he'll change his mind after he sees how his brother is transformed after BC.

I commend you ladies for raising amazing young men who are called to serve together!

We are From Colorado.  Mine did get quite homesick about two weeks into BC.

Also Re: navy stuff.  After PIR your new sailor can take you to the NEX (navy exchange) where you can buy all kinds of navy stuff, shirts, hats, coffee mugs, water bottles, pens etc....

I sent my first one these coupons for calls.  He never used them.  So I did not bother getting them for the next one.  If they work well together as a division they earn  extra calls. We got lots of calls from the second one.  His Division  won an award for earning all the flags you can win and working well together.  The first twins division did not work well together, had some that were smart mouthed.  So warn your to get this message across to their fellow div. mates.

cathymg, go buy the shirt!  Walmart sells them pretty cheap.  I understand what you are saying about not wanting to jinx it, but the pride you feel when you are wearing it and someone asks you if you have someone in the Navy?  It is amazing to be able to say my BOYS have joined!  Not too many parents can say they have raised twins to make the decision to join the Navy together.  It says alot about how wonderful they are that how awesome we did as parents! 

I am the volunteer coordinator for a non profit and a lot of our volunteers are retired military.  It is such a good feeling to tell them that both my boys have joined, it makes me swell with pride because they see me in a whole different light.  I think it makes them respect me even more and want to know more about my boys and our life, they really want to know about us since they feel we have a connection now.

Buy the shirts and stickers, just have your kleenex ready cause the tears will come.

My boys are also our youngest, I have a daughter who 23 who like your older son is also a free spirit who is still finding herself. I love her to death but sometimes I just don't know what she is thinking. I have been asked by so many people why the boys are going in on different days. I just figured they didn't want them to be together, that they probably just don't put brothers together. I don't know.

I am that emotional I read things other people put on here and I cry, I look at one of my son's watching the fireworks the other night and know he won't be here next year to do the same and I cry. would have thought the same about the other twin but he wasn't watching with us. I don't want to put stickers on anything yet, afraid I will jinx it. I am mad that my sister already has a Navy shirt, because I have said to wait til it actually happens, still worries me that they will get hurt or in some kind of trouble. I pray every time they leave the house.

cathymg.  check out Callsforrecruits.org for calling cards for your SR.  The website tells you how to contact them.  They will email you, I think 8 calling cards and you can send them with/to your recruit.  They ask that your recruit uses 6 of them and gives the other 2 to a recruit that does not have a way to call home.  It is really awesome.

Hi everyone. CO-TwinSalorsMom, I'm so glad you decided to create this group.  You are right, there is just something different having twins joining, whether it is both or one.  How old are everyone's twins?  Mine are 18 year old boys.  They are our youngest, we have another son that is 22 and still "finding" himself.  He is awesome, but a carefree spirit I guess you would say.  The twins just graduated from high school June 1st and leave for BC in Aug.  They joined with their best friend.  One of the twins and the friend leave 8/7 and the other 8/13.  The later one is trying to get his date changed to the same, only for me so maybe they can PIR together.  We live in Texas and will be driving to PIR and I HAVE to go to both.  I don't know how, but we are determined to go to both!  

My boys are so funny, they are different, but the same.  One is so "wishy washy" can't make decisions and the other makes a decision and just goes for it and the wishy washy one has followed.  They decided on the Navy because they have taken welding in high school their Jr. & Sr. year and are both already certified welders.  They want to get all the training in the Navy they can.  

I am so rambling.  Sorry about that.  I had one of my "moments" today.  I noticed my husband had put our "My son is in the Navy" stickers on our cars today.  I came home from work and noticed his on his car then looked at my car and saw it had one too!  I went inside and saw him and said "You put the stickers on our cars" and just lost it.  I don't know why, just seemed like an admission that this is really happening...... Is everyone this emotional??

When are ya'lls kids leaving and where from?  

I can't wait to do this with other moms of twins!!!
