Brrrrr it's cold outside! We had freezing rain & sleet start about 6pm yesterday and continue all night so the roads are very slick. I work at Meals on Wheels and we sent out emergency meals yesterday just in case we closed today and I'm shocked that we did close today. I'm glad so everyone is safe, but this is only the second time in 40 years we have been serving Abilene that we have closed!
Co-twin so glad your friend is improving! God is good!
Ellen, how wonderful your boys are at the same base! I know that's a blessing to you and for your boys.
I can't post this on my facebook because there are family members on there that I don't want to see because it is a surprise, but BOTH BOYS WILL BE HOME FOR CHRISTMAS! I think I already posted that, but they both got their leave chit approved so it's official! Plus they get here on my birthday! Best birthday present ever!! 14 days & counting!
Everyone dealing with crazy, cold weather, stay warm.

We got socked 12" and COLD. 18* below zero. Tonight we are at 10* below now. Makes your nose hairs freeze. Getting excited for a double Christmas. Hope you all are getting ready for Christmas too. Army navy game in a week!

Not a whole lot happening in this neck of the woods. We are preparing for another snow storm tomorrow night. Just hoping it doesn't interfere with the boys' SAT test on Saturday. They are forecasting 4-6" of snow. We'll see.

I'm so glad to continue to hear good news about your friend. Such encouraging news. Thanks for sharing the poem too. That is definitely special.

An Exchange of Wills

I want my life so cleared of self that my dear Lord may come

And set up his own furnishings and make my heart his home

And since I know what this requires each morning while it's still

I slip into that secret place and leave with him my will

He always takes it graciously presenting me with his

I'm ready then to start the day and any task there is

And this is how my Lord controls my interests, my ills

Because we meet at break of day for an exchange of wills

Anne Grannis

I found this in my Mothers bible that my dad presented me with after her passing.

Update on my friend, thank you to awesome navy mom prayers.

Good Morning All,

I have even more good news about Patty to share! Yesterday they removed the ventilator and Patty is breathing on her own!! The Rehab Doctor saw her yesterday and she was able to do quite a bit of what he asked of her. There were several things that she had some trouble with, but apparently he was encouraged by what she could do.

The storm we are having is preventing me from visiting Patty today. But I hope to make it back to Grand Junction in the next couple of days and will send another update then.

Again, a thank you does not even begin to express how much your thoughts and prayers are appreciated!!! It is so amazing how many people are rooting for Patty!
Love,
Cari

We have snow! So happy to see the white stuff again. It's REALLY COLD though. It's supposed to be in the single digits tonight. Jonathan went to shovel art his girlfriend's house and Nathanael is shoveling our driveway.

The only bad part was that I was going to go toto my first Blue Star Moms meeting tonight but they cancelled it due to the snow. We got about 3" at my house but other parts of town got more like 6". They even sent the kids home an hour early from school.

Yes SS that was cute how Darien was serious and Jacob smiled.

Thanks co-twin, I've been following and have posted here & there just staying really busy. They do look more alike and so young!
Sierra, they are doing good at a school! Jacob has started BESS, sub school, but hasn't really said anything about when he will be done. He is in Groton & got to go to the Macy's Thanksgiving Day parade! Darien is still on hold in Great Lakes. He says he won't class up until after the holidays:( Luckily, they are both coming home during the Christmas break at school! They will get here on my birthday!! Awesome presents! And will leave the day after their birthday.
Co-twin, have you ever heard of a sailor getting a chit to go see a siblings boat come in? Just wondered how common that is.
Sierra, can't wait to see the picks from y'all cutting down the tree! Sounds like it was a good trip.

Sierra, I guess I will be in line for that storm. We were supposed to be windy today but not yet. Had fog this morning.
