Cathymg the only time you are limited I think is when they are deployed. If they are in the states either at a base or at one of the schools you can ship in anything. If it is very heavy though you might want the flat rate ones, don't need to stick to the med size ones. My son that I am shipping to his deployed ship I have to use the APO/FPO boxed that cost either $12 or $14 I don't remember, You also have to fill out customs forms for shipping to a ship or overseas. you have to list everything in the box and there is 4 entries so if there is more than that in the box you need more than one form in triplicate!! Last time I sent Steve two boxes and each had two customs forms.
Sam who is in A school I just sent him a box, I sent it in the box that came from him with the "kid in a box" from BC. LOL
Hey there girls!! How is everyone??
CO-Twin- I am some shipping questions. I got some boxes from the post office, they are the large flat rate boxes, but they really aren't that big. Gregory is wanting me to send clothes, shoes, etc. the lady at the post office gave me these boxes and said i would have a $2 dollar military discount but I will have probably 3 boxes full, was wondering if I would be better off purchasing a big flat rate box rather is using the 3 small ones. I just don't know the best way to ship things and the cheapest. the last time I sent 2 of these smaller boxes it cost over $30.
Alright...now to talk about something more Navy-related. We stopped in at the recruiter's office yesterday so that Jonathan could fill out his form that he has to do twice a month. I also asked him about Jonathan getting his wisdom teeth out next month as we have scheduled the appointment with his dentist. Thank God for N4M and the FaceBook N4M site. It helped me learn questions that I needed to ask the recruiter about regarding his dental appointment. I had read that if they get them out before they leave for BC it changes their medical status. I had discussed it with the recruiter before, and he had said that Jonathan could get it done if needed and it wasn't a problem. However, I wouldn't have even thought about asking about pain meds had it not been for this site and the FB site. I asked the recruiter if taking meds afterward would be a problem. He told me he would call MEPS today and get me a definitive answer. He called me back today and told me that if at all possible, try to get an alternative other than a narcotic for him to deal with the pain. He said that the problems they have experienced is that even though they send the paperwork, it can disqualify them for 3 months. So now I'm wondering, would that mean that his ship date for BC would change too even though he has so much time left? I will have to call him back tomorrow to ask him. His recruiter just suggested that we give him something that isn't a narcotic. He also said that we need to give them the medical papers relating to the procedure. I know the Navy dentists are good at this in BC but we really want to get this out of the way before he goes. Mostly because he wants to volunteer for the 900 division and doesn't want that procedure to interfere with his training and the possibility that he couldn't play an instrument while he heals. I don't think we would've considered it if our dentist hadn't said that they needed to come out.
We have another busy weekend on tap. Tomorrow is Nevada Day which is a State Holiday commemorating the birth of our State to the nation. The kids are out of school. Jonathan has a band competition at one of the local high schools tomorrow. We also have another local band competition on Saturday and the big RIVALRY football game between University Nevada-Reno and UNLV is that day too. WHEW! It should be a LOT of fun, but exhausting at the same time. Thankfully we only have a couple more weeks of competition left. Then the Tournament of Roses Parade in January. After that, things settle down and we just have a few concert performances to attend.
Once January gets here, I think that time is going to just slip away and Jonathan will be gone before we know it. I am starting to feel that having twins and having a FS at the same time is a good thing. The Moms who have an only child or the last child to leave don't have the chaos to keep the thought of their son or daughter leaving on their minds. Sometimes it's hard to slow down and process all that is going on. Then again, maybe that's a good thing. I might actually lose my mind by next year when things are much quieter.
