That girl is determined Disy, I have a feeling she will definitely go far with her career in the Navy :)  Well said by the way.

Oh goodness no offense about A school! I don't know whether you know but twinkle 1 actually applied for Annapolis and for Air Force Academy - unfortunately you have to get a congressional nomination to get into Annapolis and AFA and you apply to your local congressman - 2 senators and the Vice President. Twinkle 1 got the congressional nomination from our local congressman and from Dianne Fienstein who is our Senator for CA but NOT for Annapolis but for the Air Force Academy. She was devastated! She couldn't get anyone to understand that she wanted to fly for the Navy. Everyone kept telling her it's no difference but she was determined to be a United States sailor so she actually turned down the appointment to the Air Force Academy. Yes I know! WHAT??? We tried to talk to her but she wouldn't have it. In the old days you could go to the Air Force Academy and transfer to the Navy but these days there is no guarantee - which is why it makes it harder for us if she were to not get through boot camp! I don't believe anyone sailors is doing better than another's ! Everyone has their own story and once they are sailors they are all our sailors!

O cute I like the fish. I bet that is very beautiful, the lights at dawn. Sounds like a really neat event.

There are over 100 balloons that take off for what they call Mass Ascension. Each balloon takes off at a different pace so it's not too bad.  They all are right up next to each other though as they are blowing up.  The coolest part is that you can be right down on the field next to them.  You can go right up next to the basket and almost stick your head right inside the balloon as they are filling them up.  It's quite the experience.  We didn't get to see the best part of the show this year which is called the Glow Show and Dawn Patrol as a freak wind came up and made it impossible for them to get the balloons blown up on the ground.  It is such an awesome experience as they make the balloons light up to choreography of music.  Then they take off before the sun comes up and you just see them as they light up in the sky.  After that they play the National Anthem while launching a balloon with an American flag unfurling from the basket of a balloon and the race begins with the Mass Ascension.  The two flag balloons then travel to a location that the winds carry them on and they drop a bullseye on the ground in two different locations.  The balloons then try to reach those markers and they drop rings on them and whoever is closest wins.

Yes there are problems with accidents, the problems occur up that pass where there is no guard rails and NO Shoulder, and I mean no shoulder. White line and a 1000 foot drop off. And in the winter it is icy. Like right now the siren went off to call volunteers and when they head south you know it is bad. They just raced south, We just had a down pour and tends to get flash floods and mud slides. I always pray when they race off.

I wasn't offended and I doubt anyone felt that way.  I just wanted to make sure that when I stated my opinion that it wasn't misunderstood.  Sometimes we say something that we don't intend to be hurtful and it turns out to be misinterpreted and causes hurt feelings.

Wow...what an awesome town.  There are some SCARY S turns there eh?  Do they have a lot of trouble with accidents on those turns?

How do they not collide?

Comment by CO-TwinSalorsMom on September 9, 2013 at 8:34pm

Oh I love watching balloons, ride in one once. it was fun.

Here is another photo this is our town

We have hunted mushrooms since Steve became interested at 4 years old, so 15 years.

I am afraid if I move out that way I will have to learn all over again as I am real familiar with the ones that grow here not out there.

Didn't mean to offend about the A schools. Nuke school is solid math and science for two and a half years. Nothing can leave the classroom as it is classified, so if you need to study you stay there. Sam quite often is in the classroom 18 hours a day. There doesn't seem to be the trouble with drinking as first of all they are all nerds as Sam says, and there is NO TOLERANCE. one infraction and it is Captains mast and you are out.
