The news out of Syria is not good - especially for you Co-Twin! But for all of us! Strange how the mainstream media believe Miley is more of a talking point. It always amazes me how concerned everyone is with other people's business and then try and turn it to teach my kids something - well my 13 year old was watching it and she was disgusted without us having to say anything!

Twin sailors mom should give you advice double trouble as she just had a PIR with both her boys.
Hope the earth does not move for you tonight sierrascrapper.
I have been watching BBC news as it tends to have more real news than what Milley Cirrus Did. I kinda want to know if my son might have to be involved in fighting.
Steve might still end up there who knows.

Hi everyone! It has been a super afternoon & evening! Been on cloud 9 since my husband texted me & told me we got Jacob's letter & he too has PIR on 10/11.
Oh, Sierra, I think I would feel the same way about earthquakes. Don't think I would like that one bit.
I agree with y'all on the syria situation, very scary now that I have children in the ilitary. Co-twin such good news your son won't be headed that direction.
I don't think Disy's daughter's PIR is 10/11, I think her's is 10/4. Cathy's son is 10/11 with mine! Really hope we get to meet in person.
Cathy, that's funny you mention about having 8 guests. When they graduated from high school in June, each graduate was allowed 10 guests, so we had 20. I guess that does mean we could have 8 for PIR since they could each have 4 on their lists, we will see. Hope everyone gets restful sleep tonight. Good night my Navy mom friends.

CO-twin...I'm just glad I don't live in the Quake State of CA. Living on the border of it is enough. LOL

Cathy...thank you for your prayers. I'm so glad we don't have cable TV...because I would probably be glued to my set. I'm a news junkie. I do listen to a lot of news talk radio, but I have weaned myself away from it a lot in the last year. I find I get so worked up and angry, so now I just listen for a couple hours in the morning and leave it at that.

Sierra, Glad to hear there were no more earthquakes, that is something I have never experienced before, sounds pretty scary. I will pray for no more scares like that!!

Doubletrouble, that is great, that you only have to go once, does that mean you get to have 8 people at PIR, 4 for each or them, I wish that was the case for us.

Syria scares me too, I am a news watching, but part of me wants to stop watching it now.

CO-Twin, It sounds like Sam is consistently studying, does he have a job now, or just school?? I am hoping he is able to just concentrate on his studies, no time for work when you are under so much pressure.

Sam has exams every week. the last two have been dooziie.

Steve is in a GREAT place, I want to go visit.

I do hope that something can be done with Syria, such a tragedy.

Oh I am zoo excited for you double trouble. That means that both of yours have PIR with Disy's female right? You can all go out for piazza.

SierraScrapper believe it or not we had a 5 point quake Here in Colorado!!

PS...I had the title of that book wrong. It's called Six Frigates written by Ian W Toll regarding the epic history of the founding of the US Navy.

WAHOO Doubletrouble! Life is GOOD! That is going to be such a SPECIAL day!

CO-twin...it's good to hear that Steve doesn't have to head that direction. This whole situation over there is making me extremely uncomfortable. Especially now that we have a connection to the military. I am praying for all those who are deployed in the area and I pray for guidance for our leaders. I'll say an extra prayer for Sam too...those tests are a bear...but they will keep Sam sharp.
We lived in Carson City when the SF one hit. It was right when my hubby moved into my apt (on the 2nd floor) and we didn't have a couch. We were sitting on the floor getting ready to watch the World Series and we both started swaying back and forth. We looked at each other like why are we doing that? Then the TV station crackled and a msg came on the TV regarding the earthquake. So...we felt it, but not in a jolting way. I also lived in Los Angeles in the early 70s and experienced a pretty big one then. However, I can't say that I remember it. When we had the last good-sized earthquake in 2008, we had two days of small tremors beforehand. They were in the 2 and 3 range then a 4.1 and 4.3 and then the 5.3. It was was scary and we felt quite a few aftershocks for a couple days. Thankfully, the jolt last night was the only one. I'm hoping we don't feel any more in the next couple days. Even my boss thinks they are fascinating, but it just messes with me mentally. The images and terror I experienced that night haunt me every time I feel the ground move. We had to use snow shovels to clean up all the glass from the liquor aisle. There was a lake of liquid and a scent of heavy liquor oozing out of that aisle. Every single aisle had product on the ground and the ceiling tiles were falling down. I was working in our back room and the metal pallet racks were rattling. I thought they would fall over, but thankfully they didn't. I calmed down last night after my husband got home and after I had laid out a set of clothes on top of my shoes in case of an emergency. It just made me feel more confident that I could handle it. We put together an emergency food box last time we had all the earthquakes around here.
