Having grown up in San Fran bay area I think many are so complacent when an earthquake happens you think nothing of it. I always thought it was kinda fun. I think when it is a really big one you know the difference.  Where were you Sierrascrapper when that big one hit San Fran the 8.2 one? I had just returned from a visit to my family. My sister said her fridge has wheels and chased her across the kitchen. My little brother was in a liquor store. My dad's employees dove under desks, including his and left him high and dry.

Found out yesterday Steve not off syria. phew. But we should pray for those that are there.

Sam had a hard test today. He texted last night for prayers.

I'm kinda frazzled right now. We just had a 4.2 earthquake jolt us around 6pm PST. I don't handle earthquakes very well as we had a rash of them about 6yrs ago and I was at work when they happened. I work in a grocery store and I was the manager on duty when we had a 5.3. It was about 45 min before my shift ended. Needless to say...I worked overtime with the cleanup in the store. It also really freaked me out and now I get I guess what would maybe be considered an anxiety attack when I feel the ground move. I am just hoping that we won't have a larger one tonight. Please send up a prayer for us. Thanks!

Disy...so good to hear you got letters today. How wonderful for you. I bet you are going to read them over and over again. Smart of your girl to keep under the radar. So glad she didn't get in trouble with the toothpaste thing too. Did anyone else get in trouble?

CO-twin...I will check that book out, sounds interesting.

I will keep your recommendation in mind. the ones I recommended I bout for my sailors not me. One day on board ship Steve's 3rd in Command walked up to him with his book, My Part of the Task.  He told steve that he had served with Col. McCristal in Iraq. he leafed through the book and told Steve all kinds of stories.

Glad you got so many letters! Steve was a letter writer Sam not so much I think I got 3 total.

Thanks Sierrascrapper - she had a good first day! Easy classes because she had already done all the AP classes so sailing through on day 1!

Got all my letters from boot camp - 5 letters! Mailman is back on the Christmas card list! I was expecting to read sad letters and my toughie is doing good! Was surprised at the drama - she was in the middle of a toothpaste fight - fortunately she was not in uniform and her rack mate helped her get it out her hair! She was not involved and didn't know what it was about! She said a lot of the females are SIQ or LLD but she has a few buddies! She nearly got picked up as a diver cos she got such good results but she said she kept her head down and nothing else was said! This girl wants to fly not swim!

Really want to recommend the Husband's Secret - not Navy - but a really good read!

Disy...I forgot to mention that I'm glad you got Twinkle 2 all settled in her dorm even if it was a bit of a rocky start. It's GREAT to hear she has made new friends alread

CO-twin...yes it was the water park in Sparks. The best part was watching the boys race their Dad on a new ride that is like a magic carpet slide. Dad kicked their butts :)
I would live to see what knitting project you are working on when you arrive. Speaking of books, I just started reading a book called Four Frigates. It is Navy related too.

I will knit and read. I have Kindle books on my iPad. Now I am reading the book I got Sam Flotsam and Jetsam. Written be a Rear Admiral about his navy career.
If you need PIR gifts, that is good, also. My part of the Task by Genl. Stanley MacCrystal. I got a copy in army khaki and green leather Oswald Chambers. My upmost for his highest. Do I have that title in the right order?
