I just returned from visiting my sailor in Mississippi. While we are not permitted to go anywhere near the shipyard, there is a lovely spot across the river that I stumbled upon. I pulled into a park to make a U-turn and looked up and there she was the USS America! Had a chance to see my sailor for two dinners and it was so reassuring to know they are all doing so well. Hard to leave, but confident knowing he is well.
Hello everyone, my son is also one of the sailors on USS America. I'm very proud of him, & proud to be a part of this group.
Hi everyone, I was just accepted to Navy4Moms. My son was a part of the over 900 sailors that took over the USS America on 4/10. Am so proud of him and just after the ceremony he recieved an achievement award for work done in Norfolk prior to moving to San Diego.
Does anyone know if there is a Moms or Families Facebook page for the USS America, yet? I can't find one. Only the government page and the commissioning page.
Dylansmom - the FB page for Commissioning USS America says that it will arrive in San Fransisco for commissioning in September.
Any news yet for when the USS America will be arrving in San Diego?
AuntieMel - Sorry, I don't get on here much. Yes, I'm on the FB pages alot more now. And, yes, we are from 7/19 PIR.
My Sailor son is finishing A School in Pensacola in a few weeks before joining the USS America. What an exciting time for all!
My son will be going straight to San Diego to wait for USS America there instead of in Mississippi.
My son will be going to Mississippi sometime this fall after A School in Pensacola. He will be on the USS America.
