oh ok..thanks rorysmom...can I ask you what the omsbudsman  is and how you get that update.  I don't know where to look.  Also, my son put a message on facebook about taking an exam for E-4.  So, they are in the tax free zone now.  I think my son was celebrating his birthday on the same day.  His birthday is Feb 20th and just turned 22.  First birthday without him.  Thanks for all the information, anything is a help to me.

Hi RR...was able to FB chat with him briefly a few days ago.  Said he was good but they hadn't gotten any packages yet due to the delay at the previous port.  Said not to send any more until he gives the okay. Daughter-in-law said no more FB at this time; only to email. Did you get his ship email address?  Did you get the omsbudsman update that they had made it thru the Suez canal and all was well? Sorry not much help...

hey everyone!

Just joining the membership and my son is on the Arleigh Burke DDG51 in supply and wanted to know if anyone had heard from their son, daughters husbands or wives.  My son went last year on a small tour and this is his first long tour, so this is frustrating I know to all of us not to hear anything...Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you ladies,

I did finally hear from him later that afternoon so that was a big relief! I’m just waiting for this all to start feeling normal… My son told me he too loved Spain but that it was very expensive:). I can’t wait to start getting pictures. Maybe they will have an internet café at the next port he can visit? Oh yes & Leslie I got a fb msg last night too about 12:43 our time:)  I think they are like 7 hours ahead from TX.

Hi Nancy. This is our son's first deployment also so I know how you feel! Maybe you didn't hear from your son as he was on watch/duty yesterday? That's when we don't hear from the sailor. Of course his wife gets the call 1st which we totally agree with! When my hubby talked to him Monday, he was out with friends who were celebrating his birthday which is Monday the 20th so that means to me they will be between ports at that time maybe? I don't know much...just buts and pieces and the communication appears hit and miss. Hope you hear from him soon!

Good MorningJ

Oh I wish I could have heard from mine. And I thought they were leaving yesterday? So do you know how often they get a chance to get online? Thank you so much I really appreciate the info, it’s our first deployment & he’s my baby so I’m really anxious. What does your sailor do (If  you don’t mind me asking)?

Hello everyone! It’s nice to be able to talk with others family members for the USS Arleigh Burke. I’m so glad to hear that some of you are getting to communicate with you sailor. We have also gotten emails & FB time with our Sailor, but I was wondering if anyone has heard from their sailors since Sunday.
