Mountain Mama yes they will mail all the pictures an dvd to your house. I did the same for my Sailor when we last spoke I told her to take the pictures but I would pay for them on PIR which we did.
  • Sailormom21811

Thanks usapaula, yes he went to his own Dr. Yesterday and they took new xrays. Turns out that he has five breaks. Two of the three ribs broken broke twice. He is having a tough time. Thank you for the offer to take ours to a movie...he was excited about going when we left. It was really helping him, and us, knowing he had plans for the day. He was also sad to see him go. I hope they will stay in touch. It sounds like Pensecola is a nice place to be! Mine will remain in Gl for a school. We will go back when the ice melts! Please stay in touch and tell your sailor to take care!
  • LornaJ (Ship 3 Div 81)

Annie SHip 03/84 My son too is @ Corry Station waiting for CTN school to begin.I guess the word is that CTN school is a hard school----He sounds a bit nervous but we told him he will get through it fine---they screen everyone who qualifies for it and if he was not capable he would not be in the class!  I am sure that with recruits coming right out of bootcamp the more senior guys try and "shake up" the fresh recruits coming on board for school too-------Other then that he is waiting for his phone and lap top and school to He says the weather is real warm and the barracks good.

  • Renick ET

Yay, our Sailors made it through boot camp! Thank you all so much.

My ET is on the other side of the RR tracks at TSC awaiting the next step in his Navy adventure.

P.S. Is there an alumni group for 2/18/2011 PIR?  Please send me the name of that group.

  • MustangMom (Ship03, Div 080)

Renick - My son is also an ET waiting at GL for a space in A School.....Is there a ET group to join?

  • zacksmom

MustangMom- There is a group for AECF ET's & FC's. My son is in GL for FC and just got put on hold for school. Who knows for how long.
  • WhiteClay Ship 2 Div 913

@ Renick - I guess we ARE the alumni of 2/18/11 lol! I don't think we need to start a new group, because we're already here. Maybe some other moms/wives will find us as time goes on?
  • kandio(ship 3 Div 081)

yea..so excited my son got his phone yesterday, when he called to tell me I just jumped for joy to see his name come up....and he had a wonderful txt conversation with his little sister, such simple things make us so happy...have a great day ladies!!!
  • PrdNavyMom2Sailors

Just got a call from my daughter, she is at GL on hold for GM school and also waiting to move to a new building to stay. She doesn't know for how long she will be on hold.
  • kandio(ship 3 Div 081)

jill6- my son is there too....waiting for HT school to start was given March 16th as start day, will see what happens.
  • exxie

kandio, I know what you mean about jumping for joy when the phone rang.  My son bought a laptop immediately after graduation but we had to put that and his phone in the lock&go until he moved over the tracks at GL.  He picked them up this weekend and we got to Skype on Sunday night AND discovered we could 3-way Skype with his dad (who's in Oregon for a job and I'm in Florida), so we were just having a PARTY!!  I couldn't stop grinning!

  • myboysmom(Ship09/Div078)

I am an alum for PIR 2/18/11.....My sailor is in D.C. at another bootcamp training for Honor Guard. He says its tough but is enjoying it. Glad to hear everyone's sailors are doing well. Good luck to all and keep posting and keeping us updated. I so miss talking to everyone!!!
  • NavyWife1214 (Ship 03 Div 079)

Are there any other Navy wives out there who are planning to move to Great Lakes with their sailors not having accompanied orders?
  • Ashley (Ship 3, DIV 081)

So I had an amazing weekend in GL, but now my sailor is in Groton, CT for BESS, then A-school. He's having some trouble still adjusting to not having any structure, and talking to "normal people" as he calls it, but all in all he sounds great, and I can't wait to fly out and see him. :) His classes started yesterday (Monday 2-28) It sounds like he's nejoying it.
  • newnavymom(Ship 03 Div 79)

OK need help, my camera malfunctioned.  And son did not order video. Says he cannot get back into recruit area to order. Anyone have link or know how to order??
  • WhiteClay Ship 2 Div 913

did you get the Div picture? our had order sheet inside that I filled out to order the DVD of Grad.
  • cajunldr(ship 03 Div 086)

    Hello Fellow Alums!!!

Sorry I have not been back on the discussion group but the trip took a lot out of me, still going through Chemo and had a treatment the day before I left, so needless to say.......

Anyway, my daughter is squared away in Pensacola, IT.  Anybody else out there from our grad group have a sailor there for the same?

She is still waiting on her security clearance, but is starting classes in the next two weeks anyway.  I am assuming they have more history to cover on her, since she is 31!!!

Let's keep in touch with each other, the graduation was wonderful and she looks great and seems really happy.  Her post on FB this morning stated "Insanely busy, but loving the Navy life"

That's all a mom can ask for!!!!

  • LornaJ (Ship 3 Div 81)

My son is in Pensacola waiting on CTN school to begin--they told him about 4-6 weeks. He says he is busy, cleaning, duty and volenteering at the base church. He says it is warm and he is loving it! Sure is nice to talk with him on the phone---but I must confess--I miss the letters in the mail. Anyone else??
  • bev618

I miss my letters too - even though talking with my son pretty much daily is nice -- but the letters gave me something to look forward to during the week :)

Also, if anyone has the address of where to buy the DVD please post it - son didn't get it ordered and we didn't want to fight the crowds after PIR at the exchange - so partly my fault too!!!

  • myboysmom(Ship09/Div078)

    bev618 hope this helps....

Hope this will get you what you need!!!! Anxiously waiting to get mine in the mail.

  • PrdNavyMom2Sailors

I miss the letters too.  I looked forward to to Wednesdays and would read them out loud to the rest of the family.
  • Terri,Bobster's Mom (AWF FTS)

Okay Moms, I need to understand something.  Just got off the phone with the Bobster and he said that he had a W-2 for 2010 from the Navy.  His first direct deposit wasn't until 1/14 so how did he have earnings in 2010?  I'm having a hard time wrapping my chemo brain around this.

Other than that he is doing great in Pensacola.  Is now in Phase 2 and loving it.  They had a six mile run yesterday, part of which was on the beach.

  • bev618

Hey Terri - yes, they did have earnings in 2010 - the deposit that was in Jan was for the time from when the entered BC and was for about 4 weeks  - my son gave me his when we were at PIR - not the chemo brain - just our government at work!!

    Bev

  • Terri,Bobster's Mom (AWF FTS)

That is so confusing....now I have to do an amended return for him.  Ugh!  Thanks Bev!

  • Terri,Bobster's Mom (AWF FTS)

So I wonder how many of our fellows are in Pensacola now?  Do we need to start a group or a discussion forum to compare notes?  I've joined the Pensacola group but I miss the Mom's here.
  • myboysmom(Ship09/Div078)

asked my son a week or so about his W-2 and he didn't know anything at that time.  Where can I get his W-2? Should he have it by now?  He is in D.C. now.

  • ProudMichiganMom

Hi all, my son is in Pensacola as well.  However, I'm all for starting an Alum PIR 2/18/11 to share information and just hear how everyone is doing no matter where the Sailors are now stationed. I, too, miss this group of Mom's.
  • PrdNavyMom2Sailors

I talked to my daughter today, she said she finally started A school today, Yea!

  • cajunldr(ship 03 Div 086)

My daughters W-2 came here about a week ago. It was for one paycheck from the Navy
  • cajunldr(ship 03 Div 086)

I agree we should stay here together and just be the Alums, we don't have to change the name of the group, the date will not be another class with the same.

I too am on the Pensacola one and even though they are great, I think we have a special bond here.

    Thanks for being here.

  • randy'smom

I haven't been on this site in awhile. Once back from graduation, I moved and was without the Internet for over a week. Hope everyone has recovered from our trips! I was real tired, but so worth it to see my son and PIR was just awesome!!! My son is in Pensacola and says he really likes it. I agree with staying in touch with each other!!! Isn't it nice to be able to talk with our Sailor's now and be on FaceBook??

    Have a good weekend everyone!

  • MountainMama(ship3 div081)

I think the bond here comes from those early days when none of us were hearing from our kids, and then sharing all the info we had when the letters finally started rolling in.  Also, sharing in the excitement of the final days when they were completing their training and Battle Stations.  Sharing all the stress, the joy, the worry, the success creates a bond that just cannot be broken.  We grew as woman while our kids became young men and women.
  • kandio(ship 3 Div 081)

I agree ladies..we must stick together! Those early days were terribly hard for me I could always count on you to lift me up and know that my feelings were not alone.  Thank you so much for your support and wisdom I have learned so much!   Have a great day and keep in touch.
  • PrdNavyMom2Sailors

I also agree that we should stick together, those early days would have been even harder if I didn't have all of you to help me though- Thank you!
  • MountainMama(ship3 div081)

Maybe we should rename this group "The Pink Ladies"  because of our scarves!
  • PrdNavyMom2Sailors

    That's so cool!
  • zacksmom

I have to stop by and see what you are all up to every other day or so. I miss the countdown clock! I miss looking forward to letters in the mail box. We all went on a journey together and I am grateful to have made the journey with all of you!! It was an amazing journey! I am so proud of my son! He is in GL for school and it will be too long before I see him again. He is in a good place in his life and this is what makes me happy! I'm so grateful for modern technology as we can keep up with our sailors every day now!! I may miss the letters but I don't miss bootcamp days of not knowing!!
Today I framed my son's bootcamp portrait. I also put a blue star sticker in his bedroom window. It is for all the sailors away from home and their families. :)
    Have a great weekend!!!
  • myboysmom(Ship09/Div078)

I agree...we all had an incredible journey together. I don't know what I would have done without all of you. Thanks again! My friend is now going through the same thing with her son, he just left for the Air Force and she calls me when she is down b/c she knows I just went through what she is going through. She tells me that her best friend of 30 years just DON'T GET IT!!!!! I tell her how sorry I am for that but until you have been through it yourself ......you WON'T get it! No matter how hard your friends and family try it's not the same as the other moms that are going through the same thing at the same time. She said AF has a website but apparently they aren't as close as we all became b/c she said no one really wants to talk about it. I feel so sorry for her. Please say a prayer for her and her family she really needs it. She says she feels she is losing her mind. .....I reassured her she is not but it does feel like that sometimes. I so want to keep in touch with everyone...you all feel like family to me know and if I don't check in everyday or two I feel so lost. Have a great weekend everyone and a LONG weekend for those us of in the south celebreting Mardi Gras!!!! YIPPEE!!!! I love 4 day weekends!
  • Scrappy1(Carol)

I have a feeling we aren't going anywhere!  That is what makes this a wonderful site.  My son was to start A school for corpsman in GL this past week but he got pushed back.  Been doing lots of cleaning.  Anyone with a sailor there?  A few guys from BC are there so they have been doing "guy" things.  We don't talk too much, I still want him to focus on task at hand but love hearing his ring tone on my cell, Anchors Away.  I couldn't resist!
  • tstms2003

Any one looking for the W-2's have go onto mypay. Tell them look about half way down from there current pay statment. There should be a link to click for the W-2. At that point they can print it or save it then email it or what ever they wish. Also have them save all pay statement either print or save because they are only on there for a couple months then they are gone forever. You just never know when you may need one to prove something.

  • tstms2003

I reading other questions concerning W-2's. Why did they get a W-2 for 2010 when they didn't get paid until January 14, 2011? Well here is how it happened. They arrived GL mid Dec. They all signed up for direct deposit this takes awhile for it to process. So on the last working day of December they got paid as they are suppose to, however the Navy had no where to send it so they sat on it until the direct deposit information was loaded in which didn't occur until mid January. Hope this helps.  .
  • kandio(ship 3 Div 081)

Scrappy1--my son is in GL too he started School on Tuesday, he had a name for it just general classes his HT school will start in April.  SOOOO wonderful to actually have communication with him but I truely miss the letters, told him I will continue to write some as he likes to get mail.
  • PrdNavyMom2Sailors

Scrappy1- I set my daughters ringtone to Anchors Away also.  I love talking and texting with her.  She is at GL, started school on Thursday.  She is going to night school she didn't pick the time, that's what they gave her.  Also, she is moving from where she is living to a new place on base on Tuesday, a newer place.
  • myboysmom(Ship09/Div078)

Thanks for the info but I'm still confused......What is mypay? And can I access it or does he have to do it? He is in D.C. in another bootcamp setting training for Honor Guard and still does not have access to computers.
  • randy'smom

I miss coming to this site numerous times during the day to get info and share everyones excitement about letters, phone calls and making it through BattleStations!!! Now that life has settled down from all that, I take comfort in being able to be on Facebook with him and being able to call him. He is really enjoying Pensacola and went out last night to Hooters with some of the guys. Looking at the picture he posted, wondered if any of the Sailors  belong to you. Please keep in touch, and have a great weekend Navy Moms!!!!
  • tstms2003

Sorry I've been in the military so long I just assume everyone know the languge.

mypay is a link within the military to get there paystatements, w-2 and other pay related items. He/she can get into via there ID card which is also called a CAC card. Now they can also go in and set up a user name and password with in but I'm sure if it could be access from a nonmilitary line as I just use my CAC.

  • myboysmom(Ship09/Div078)

    Thanks tstms,

I am hoping he will call soon so that I can mention the mypay thing to him and have him send me his W-2.  I don't want to file it late.......

  • Northwest Annie

I talked with my son yesterday and I asked him about the W-2 also. I told him to e-mail me a copy and I would put it with the other 2 W-2's of his that came to my address while he was in BC. He said "why should I mail you a copy? Why don't you send me the W-2's you have and I'll take care of it." I thought, Wow, that thought never occured to me. He doesn't need me to take care of things anymore. Sure brought a big ol' smile to my face. He told me they had volunteers that come in and help them file their taxes. I guess the bird has left the nest!! :-)
  • MariaM

Im glad im not alone with the letters thing, he calls, tex, facebook...the letters were so special. I see him very independent and on his own. Mom will always be here , but he has detach and totally flying his way!!!

    Miss all of you!

    MariaM
