Of all the things I was thinking/worrying about before BC, wisdom teeth were not one of them until I heard that they come out this week! I didn't even think to ask my SR (who's almost 20) about his - my daughter who is 22 says hers are just now starting to erupt. I wonder what they do if the wisdom teeth are still impacted? I guess I'll find out when we get his first letter! :)

  • Tammy D

Cheja there's a Nuke Moms group here that will give you all sorts of information (my son is headed there, too). They'll be in a room with one roommate and will share a bathroom with two other guys. Not sure about sending stuff, though. We asked our SR to pack a duffel bag with stuff he wants us to bring him to PIR so he can take it with him to SC and all he packed was his lap top LOL!

  • Anti M

@Cheja ... once he gets to nuke school, he will have a USPS address and can receive mail.  He can have his computer, but will need special permission to leave it out of his locker.  He will need to pay for wifi, roommates usually split the cost.  Cell reception is awful in the barracks.

This video shows some of the rooms from ten years ago, there won't be too many changes ...

14 days after arriving, my ex let me know the form letter finally came yesterday! So happy!! My SR didn't fill in the address part of the form but my ex sent me a pic of the envelope. He's on Ship 14, Div 133 and his PIR is 4/28! Hooray!!

I'm happy to have found you girls. We're new to all of this even though our SR has 2 uncles who are retired navy men after careers of 20 years. You have already been a comfort and source of information I so welcome. Thank you all!
  • RedGerberDaisy

WonderGeekWoman  our boys are both ship 14 div 133.

  • Retriever

does anyone here have a PIR date of 05/05/17, or am I too early? Thank you.

  • ProudOfK

Nice to see lots of Ship 14 Div 133 moms on this site!

Anti M thanks for the link to the video about nuke school. I'd not seen it before it made me excited for my son as he is a nuke.

  • PINA32

Did anyone else zoom in to the names on the coats to see if you could see your SR? FB showed them out marching in the snow. https://www.facebook.com/story.php?story_fbid=10154987033899651&...
  • OR_NavyMomx2

ProudOfK, my son is a Nuke to.

  • ProudOfK

OR_NavyMom - that's awesome.  I saw your post in the PIR 4/28 group - hopefully you find out your info soon.  My son also shipped out on 2/27 so it does seem like your PIR would be 4/28.

  • ColoradoNavyMom

Thx PIN. I went and looked. Not sure if my son was captured in pics but warmed the heart seeing pics.
  • lemonelephant

retriever, the PIR group for 05/05/2017 will be created once someone receives The Form Letter, which will be later this week. Remember to wait on The Form Letter before sending letters even though you know the address.

Everyone, Make it a habit to check your My Page because you may have comments from Members and not even know it if you have the notifications turned off for comments on your My Page. To reply to someone who leaves a comment on your My Page, click on "Comment Back" or "View Thread" (you will have to do that if the person has their profile set to "Just My Friends") below the comment. Mjh363, yes, it was wonderful spending time with my daughter and son-in-law.

Hey everyone, I am making my reservations for PIR 4/14/17. I am conflicted because I want to spend as much time as I can with my SR before he leaves for his A school, which will not be located in Great Lakes. I was wondering if I should make my reservations through to Sunday or stick to Saturday night?
  • thisday (Kristie) PIR 4/7/17

PINA32   I certainly did zoom in to see the names on the jackets in the FB pics.  Didn't see my SR though.  LOL

  • NicsNavyMom

You better believe I zoomed in on the facebook pics!!   But I didn't see my SR.  They sure looked bundled up, hope they were warm and hope this is the last time they will have to march in those yucky cold and snowy conditions!

  • NicsNavyMom

P.S.  And did you notice also on the fb page the pictures of last week's PIR?    All those happy hugs and happy faces, brought tears to my eyes.  Soon that will be us :)

  • Retriever

hello all what is the name of this Facebook page with pictures and more?  thanks!

Anyone's kid arrive at BC on 3/8?  The last PIR date posted is 4/21 when did those recruits arrive?

  • lemonelephant

mom24boys, your recruit will most likely have PIR on 05/05/2017, but wait on The Form Letter to know the PIR date for sure. Arrival and What Happens at the RTC will let you know what to expect.

  • lemonelephant

Check out https://www.facebook.com/NavyRecruitTrainingCommand. The PAO posts random photos randomly. There is no guarantee that your recruit will be photoed, but it is fun to look at the photos and get an idea of what is happening at the RTC. They do not have pages that follow a particular division.

https://www.facebook.com/ASBPGreatLakes has pics of some of the recruits who give blood while at the RTC. Those donations occur about 2 weeks (10 to 16 days depending on the division) before PIR.

  • lemonelephant

Hello, retriever. My boy told me before he left on 030817 that PIR will be 050517. We have no official word yet, or any other kind of word either, but I'm exercising my patience possibly better than I ever have!

Okay, should I be concerned?  It's been 14 days and I still have not received the form letter yet.  I'm seeing on here that Moondream knew before he left on 3/8 that his PIR would be on 5/5.  I'm also reading about so many moms and loved ones who have received form letters and know PIR dates.  I wonder if it's because we just had another blizzard here in the Northeast.  Could the letter have gotten lost in the mail?  At what point do I call his recruiter and see if he can find something out for me?  I'm getting worried.

  • OR_NavyMomx2

My SR's letter just arrived today and his PIR is 4/28. He sent it to his ex-gf. UGH!!

  • FireTeamLeaderWife aka FTLW

PIR dates are not official until a recruit has reached RTC and is assigned to their TG/Ship/Division. Anything before that is a guestimation.

Maggie - It can sometimes take longer than two weeks. :-( If the weather delays the mail in your area then that might be the problem.

If it goes longer than three then there is a possibility that it may not have a been addressed properly, returned to the recruit and re-sent (one of the most common mistakes).

You can contact the recruiter to see if they can get you his address. *NOTE - Recruiter info may be incomplete (missing street name etc) OR may contain too much info ( include fiscal year, gender, compartment number , ship name etc).

This page shows all of the ship/division info as well as how to address your letters:

    RTC website Contact your Recruit

Hang in there, I bet it arrives shortly!

    OR_NavyMom - :-O

  • Retriever

Good morning Moondream, I've been told PIR date is 05/05 by the recruiter, and think it's correct, but will wait for my form letter. I DID receive my son's "box o'stuff!"

  • proudnavymom2017

Hello moms be patient I know it is hard but you will get your letter I can promise you that. The question is when . if I may encourage you start writing now and have family write now so as soon as you get the letter you can send them out . Remember always keep it positive nothing sad tell them how proud you are . funny things  keep them updated on things they are into ie sports ,games, things like that .

  • proudnavymom2017

All of the information you need will be in the first letter you get . It will have websites ,names, hotels, and links to everything.

  • Moondream

Good morning! We got the box, also. Just waiting for an address to mail my letters to!
  • Blessed

Hello, my son just arrived in BC on Tues. I am thankful for finding this forum to connect with other mom's! :)
  • Justin

ANYONE WHO CAN HELP ASAP ITS MUCH APPRECIATED!

My fiancé if graduating next Friday, Ship 11 Div 102 and since she is one of the first divisions in numerical order I was told to expect the I'm a Sailor phone call from her tomorrow (being 7 days prior to grad on a Friday) So even with the slightest possibility that shed call me I found another Marine to cover for me on an event I was supposed to work tomorrow morning till around noon. I don't know when I should expect the call but if anyone has any info based off of knowledge or prior experience please let me know. I don't want someone to cover for me if its very unlikely to hear from her. Thank you.

  • Gijoesgirl

Moondream Now that you received "the box" do you see the significance of that?  It was so symbolic to me!  I still haven't washed any of his shirts that came back!!! We are on week 6 and I still haven't and won't!!! God bless you and all the new mom's ~ your feelings are shared!!!

  • Blessed

How sweet! :) It was running through my mind what I will do when We receive our son's box...wondering if I would wash his clothes or not...still not sure. Emotions are an unpredictable thing! Blessings to you Moondream!
  • Moondream

Gijoesgirl, I do, indeed. This site is a life raft to me now. Thank you!

  • Gijoesgirl

    Proudnavymom2017 How awesome!! Happy Birthday!!!

  • Retriever

Blessed, when did you child arrive? a week ago Tuesday, or Tuesday of this week? Mine arrived a week ago Tuesday.

  • FireTeamLeaderWife aka FTLW

I am very sorry, but we are not allowed to post Battlestations dates on this site. RTC has asked us not too as it violates OPSEC.

If you could please edit/delete and re-post the response post that would be good.

I'll leave the original...as...well...Marine needs some help!

Please respond to him privately by friending him on here and sending a private message. Thanks!

  • FireTeamLeaderWife aka FTLW

Justin...Thank you for your service...I hope someone can help you out.

It is a small TG and so don't know if they will start BST-21 tonight or on Sunday. Ask on your PIR group if anyone may have heard from their SR to private message you.

Be advised...You may still get conflicting answers :-(
