Cindi@FrostyAcres -- Praying that everything goes well and your SR finishes on time!!!

  • tammybikerunfaithlove

Cindi praying all goes well with the run!!! That's exciting.

JNMnavymom any updates from your son? Praying for good news!! BNHMs!

Melissa - I echo what others have said - get at least the hotel booked. They fill up quick. Most are great about letting you cancel within 24 hours - sometimes less (Navy Lodge you can cancel up until I think 4 pm the day of checkin) because they know it's the military and things change.

  • Tootie

Happy Happy Mom here - I got my first call from my SR this morning!! He sounded really good and talked for about 30 minutes.  He told me they pulled his wisdom teeth and they only gave him one day to rest after - but he said he's doing good now. He's in the 952 DIV which is why I think they got a early phone call since they were on hold for a week.  I feel like such a weight has been lifted off of me after hearing his voice and knowing he's alright!  I was in Target when he called and I dropped everything in the middle of the aisle and ran to my car to talk to him...haha!  Glad to have you all to share all the good and bad news as I get through this journey. Hope everyone has a great weekend!

  • Amy

    Tootie, so happy for you!

  • belovedbyHim

Tootie -- YEAH!!!! Phone calls are AWESOME!!

Btw-- if the Navy sticks to it's schedule (And they usually do in this case....) You may very well get another call next week around the same time frame, assuming they earn it. It's not 100% but that is not uncommon.  Either way... Don't be handling priceless objects 'd arte next week.... They don't like it when those get dropped!! (Crossing everything that you get another call soon!)

    Good Morning Everyone!

Tootie - WooHoo!!  Here is information on 900's Division . We no longer have 800 divisions, so scroll down through the information to find what you are looking for.

If anyone is able to offer Maxine encouragement, she has posted two discussions in the general area Failed 1.5 mile run and Prep . Thank you.

Got my son's ship and division update from Sandboxx.  I guess that means I won't be getting a letter in the mail and need to fill out the form for PIR and send it to him by getting it from the RTC Website correct?  I read all the info on Sandboxx, not sure if I'll be using it or not.  Maybe I'll just try it once to see how it works.  Today will be day 7 since he's arrived.  It's my understanding he is still finishing up with processing and will soon start his assessments.  Before he left for RTC he was running a 7.5 minute mile, so hopefully he'll do okay on the physical assessments.  I miss not being able to call him up whenever I want to, or having him call and text me 20 million times a day....Mom, MAMA, mum, MOM, MOMMA, mum.....lol.  I really took all that for granted!  What I wouldn't give for one of those texts or calls right now!!!  Whatcha doing mom?  I'm at work D, just like any other week day, whatch need?  Um, nothing....just calling to say hi.  Gosh I miss that!!!  I can't wait til PIR and his first letter or call home!  I can't wait to see how he's liking it and what he's learning!  I'm so excited for him.  Looks like they created another division in this PIR group, because he's in Div 001.

This is a regular reminder regarding the number of guests allowed at the graduation ceremony.
GRADUATION CEREMONY SPACE LIMITATIONS: Recruit Training Command will issue FOUR tickets for the graduation ceremony, per recruit. The maximum number of allowed guests is based on safety regulations and the fire code for the drill hall, where the indoor ceremony takes place. Again, recruits are permitted to invite up to FOUR guests to graduation, (THREE guests when 11 or more divisions are graduating,) NO EXCEPTIONS WILL BE AUTHORIZED for additional guests. Please do not call for additional seats!
ONLY YOUR RECRUIT CAN CHANGE THE GRADUATION CEREMONY ACCESS LIST: Your recruit will be able to make changes to the access list. The last opportunity to make changes will be the week before graduation. If there is a change to be made to the access list (such as a name spelled incorrectly, name-swap, etc…) please communicate any changes to your recruit by mail well in advance. Recruit Training Command staff cannot change these names or release the names of those on the list. Please do not call to verify receipt of security forms, only your recruit can verify that.

lapdja-- He is the FIRST training group of the New year if he's Div 001.
Yes get the security form from the links that B's posted and send that in.  Only you can decide if the cost is worth it.
You may want to let him know that you really appreciate now the random texts that used to bug you. All those Mom, Ma, Momma, Mommy, Mum, MAMA.....texts that asked nothing but spoke volumes.  Hang in there.... He's being fed, dressed and sheltered and he'll be just fine!! We are here if you find yourself adrift and just need to hold onto something stable for a bit.  Only 9 weeks left.

  • Northwoodsmom

lapdja, I miss my son's " hi mom too"  I had him record it on my phone when I am missing him. Those two little words mean the world to me. Hang in there, stay busy, it seems a long time but it truly isn't. Thinking of all of you.

  • Rosanne

Tootie - Hooray for your phone call!  So glad you got to hear his voice! :)

  • Rosanne

lapdja - hang in there. Just keep sending letters and notes. You'll cherish that first letter from him all that much more!

From the RTC Website (October 2022):

    Sandboxx Information

Recruit Training Command (RTC) allows recruits and their families to regularly communicate. All RTC families will receive the recruit’s mailing address and information about graduation. The general information is also on our website www.bootcamp.navy.mil located under the “Graduation” tab.

Recruits may regularly receive letters from families via USPS or other mailing services. Another alternative is communication through a private company, Sandboxx. Should your recruit opt-in to the Sandboxx service, you will receive a text message and/or email with a link to create a profile. Once you create a profile, you will have expedited access to their mailing address, division number, and graduation date, in addition to recurring updates about what your recruit is experiencing during training. The information is FREE to access once you have registered.

Sandboxx is not affiliated with, or endorsed by, the Navy or Department of Defense.

Use of Sandboxx services is at the discretion of Navy recruits and their families.

    Q & A
Is it required to use Sandboxx to receive my recruits’ information?
No. If your recruit decides to opt-in to the service and you receive a notification, you are not required to click the link. However, your recruit will not be aware that you did not electronically receive their address, which means you will have to wait for your recruit to write you a letter with their return address. This will further delay the process in you receiving important information regarding your recruit’s contact information and graduation status.

Can I get my recruits’ information electronically without signing up for Sandboxx?
No. You will have to wait to receive the information in the mail if you choose not to follow the link you received and create a profile.

How can I find out more information regarding my recruit and their time training at RTC?
Please visit our website at www.bootcamp.navy.mil for the most up to date information. You will find the best ways to contact us should you have specific questions.

Can RTC answer specific questions for me regarding Sandboxx?
No. Please contact Sandboxx directly if you have any specific questions about the service they provide.

When will my recruit start receiving mail?
Recruits get mail as soon as it is received. Do NOT send your recruit mail before having their full mailing address. A full mailing address includes ship and division number. You do not have to wait a specific number of days or weeks before sending your recruit mail, so long as you have their full address.

I thought I would get to report tonight that I would be going to PIR this week.  My son called a few hours ago to say he is being set back again.  His time was worse this week than last week, or so he believes.  My heart keeps breaking.  His frustration and disappointment is mounting.

  • Chipmunk

Oh JNMnavymomOH - I am so sorry to hear this!!!

  • CBMom

JNMnavymom - I’m so sorry to hear this. I know how hard he’s worked. A friend of mine, her daughter, could not pass and was there about 6 months. She worked at it and she finally passed. As long as he keeps trying they will help him to pass. I’m so sorry it’s taking so long. My heart goes out to you both. Will continue in my prayers.

  • Northwoodsmom

JNMnavymom, my heart hurts for you and your son. I keep telling myself it's in God's timing and there is a reason for this. The Navy isn't giving up on him so they see something very special in this young man.  I am sure you are extremely proud in how he is persevering and not giving up. I sure would love to meet this incredible young man who keeps going and is so set on making this sacrifice to serve his country. He totally amazes me. I am definitely keeping him in my prayers.

  • Tootie

JNMnavymom - My heart is breaking for your son and for you. I'm continuing to pray for you both.

  • MomofJoseph

JNMnavymom - Big big hugs to you!  I am praying for you and for your son often.  I know that good news is coming.  I agree with Northwoodsmom that your son is amazing in his perseverence, and YOU are amazing in all of this, too.  I will keep praying.  BNMH to you from all of us!  <3

  • Rosanne

JNMnavymom - continued prayers for you and your son.

  • tammybikerunfaithlove

JNMnavymom I've been thinking of you and your son daily. I'm so sorry he's been set back again. I'm in such agreement with what others have said - and I would remind him of this - They are working with him for a reason! He clearly is showing them some outstanding qualities beyond the run that are wanting them to continue to invest in him and work with him. His perserverence is admirable. I hope that he can use his frustration and turn it into good energy to continue to prove to the Navy that he will make one heck of a sailor!  Everything in God's timing and with His perfect puprose and plan- even if it doesn't feel that way to us.  I will continue to pray for him and for you. BNMHs!!!!

Today we remember those who lost their lives on the USS Cole.  It is because of this that we now have BS21 training in boot camp.

(Click on the picture to enlarge and read the names.)

  • JNMnavymomOH

There just are not enough words to say my appreciation for your continued encouragement and prayers.  He called me twice today to provide 2 different Divisions.  As he has already completed and passed BS21, he can not be set back to a division that has not yet passed it.  I have reiterated to him that I am so proud of him for his strength and perseverance, his drive and willingness to push himself.  I know he worries that the next time could be the one where they send him home.  I have told him that he is inspiring (to me and others) and to continue to fight for this.  I am emotionally drained, I won't lie.  This waiting until the last minute for changes is hard.  Both with work and travel.  And yet he goes from Div to Div, that has to be lonely.  He is kind of a loner anyways, but this is a whole new level.  I told him today that I wanted to go back on vacation with him.  He said me too.  I said, wait, you wanna go hang out with your mom?   His response:  It's better than being bored in here.  Warms the heart to hear that he misses me.  I am continuing to pray for peace and comfort and strength of determination like his.

  • belovedbyHim

JNMnavymomOH --- I am heartbroken for you both.  I have to give him a great deal of credit though for sticking with it.  A lesser person would have given up.  It shows his character and strength that he's keeping with it!

  • Chipmunk

B'sNukeMom - Thank you for the In Memoriam reminder. As I travel and visit different places, I am more aware of the memorials that are housed across this country, honoring our military, especially those who have died in service.

JNMnavymomOH - BNMHs!!! Continued prayers for your son and you. May he be strengthened in mind, body, and spirit.
