Thank you so much for this information! I am new to this whole thing so I really appreciate any advice you all might have. I think stamps are a good idea too so they can send us letters:)
Thanks so much. I didnt find out about this site until the other day and my son is graduating in less than a week but will still be in Great lakes untill the 11th when he will go to Mississippi. I am wondering does he still qualify for this? He could definatly use it. He has his first baby due on the 16th of june and most likely wont even meet her until Septemeber.....phone calls would help alot
Thank you. I will check out the cards. My son leaves for Great Lakes on July 5th. I am trying to find out if booking a flight on Sept 6th is premature. I think Southwest will allow me to change my flight later with minimal charges. I need to get them now while they are cheap. Other than that I am reading to see what Info I can get to help him out. The cards are a great idea. Thank you again.
Thanks so much for the information. I have one sailor who is currently sailing the seas and another headed to Boot Camp this summer. Will definitely be telling his mom to join Navy for Moms! Thanks again, Proud Grandmother
Thank you so much for the infomation for the phone cards he will need them I am just exploring the site and have a lot to learn about what he will be going through in the next year. I will be curious I am sure about a lot of things and I appreciater all the help I can get. Thank you again and look forward to speaking to you and all the others in the near future.
Crapola, I just realize that you go by a different name over at NavyDep. I didn't put the two together until now. There use to be a group on here that did what you are doing, but I'm not sure what happen to them. Every so often I get a depper whose family disowned them because they joined the military. When I find them, I will send them your way. EVERYONE deserves a letter in boot camp.
Thanks for the Welcome. I have been a Navy Mom since September. My Sailor is in NUK school in Goose Creek. Will be done in November and may see him closer to home for the rest of his schooling.
Thanks for the information regarding the phone cards. My son goes to boot camp in October. Still a bit numb, but I've been exploring so many sites, and have learned a lot of what he will be going through. Any suggestions will be appreciated.
Thank you for the information on free calling cards. I plan to use this site and donate when I can. I think this is a great service to everyone who has a family member in the service. Thank you so much
Thank you Ronny and Anna for the information. This has been the worst week of my life. Its been so hard on me and my family. But Navy Moms website has been so helpful. I thank god for all the information I felt lost until I found this site.
Thank you for the information. All the information has been very encouraging and helpful. My son does not leave for boot camp until July, but I am trying to prepare myself with as much information as I can. Thanks again.
Thank you...the information here is very helpful.
My daughter is still in the very beginning stages in the process of joining the navy. Last wk she met with a recruiter and picked up her paperwork. She was weighed there and she had to lose a few pounds ( she's not heavy) because she was a little over max weighed for entry. She's already lost the weight so she meets again with recruiter on Monday. Meanwhile she has been taking practice tests online.
She is really excited.
I will keep posting updates
thank you soo much for the info, we had bought him 2 ten dollar calling cards from walmart. If he needs more I know where to get them. He left May 15th graduates from bootcamp July13th. We miss him sooo much, he is our only child. We know God will take care of him. Thanks again
Thanks for the info. Have found this site to be especially helpful. My daughter left for boot camp on May 29. I am full of so many different emotions. I am so full of pride but feel like I am dying inside, all at the same time.
Thank you so much for the warm welcome!
I'm looking forward to getting to know fellow Navy Moms
I do have a question,I don't know my son's ship our division. How do you find out?
This sight is very cool! One of my daughter's best friends fathers actually started this Calls for Recruits.org...I already emailed them to get a card for my daughter and some to share for those who dont have someone who is internet savvy! It is very nice to find comfort with those in similar circumstance....I thought that I served my time so my daughter wouldnt have to, but she chose to anyway, and I am very proud of her :)
Actually I have met you Ronnie, I am Lexie Nichols mother...She has been living with her father and step-mother in Bakersfield the last few years. I met you when I was out there visiting for Lexie's graduation and spent quite a bit of time with Dillon, Lexie and Arianna...I havent received the email for the phone cards yet, but I will send them to Lexie with a message to share as soon as I receive them...Thanks again for starting such a wonderful organization.
Thank you so much for the warm welcome, I appreciate all the knowledge you have and can help me with. My son Nich is a dep right now he is suppose to leave Oct.31 unless they get his date moved up they are trying to but I do not know if they will be able to or not, I guess we will see. I look forward to learning more and becoming a sailors mom. His dad and I will miss him when he is gone but we know he has made the right decision for himself.
Thank you so much, I already got the phone cards you suggested! Dylan left for boot camp this past Tuesday and I can't believe the emotions that have run through me!
What can you tell me about boot camp itself? I guess it's not knowing what he's doing day to day that kind of freaks me out. I just want to call him and say, "hey, how's it going?" This is truly the first summer I have wished away as his graduation is Aug. 3.
That was wonderful. From what I can recall, he will be going into A School to hopefully obtain the AE rating. He's hoping to be working on the navigation and fiberoptics, etc. on aircraft.
Thanks so much for the welcoming email and helpful sites. It is a great relief to know there is support for me as well as my daughter. I feel confident my daughter will have a wonderful experience. However, as an earthy crunchy massage therapist, I feel a bit out of my league becoming a parent of a navy kid. Now I don't feel so overwhelmed !! Hope I can return the favor.
Thank you for the fast and heart felt welcome that i just recieved. I am so excited for my son Nelson ,am so dreading his ship out date (6/17/12).I am so thankful for this site and for the new support that i am recieving from everyone here. Thank YOU
Thanks for the welcome! I love this site. It gives me a much better insight to what to expect. My son just got to Great Lakes a week ago. He's Ship 13 Div 235. I miss him terribly and cannot wait to see him in August for his PIR
My daughter is in bootcamp and graduates on july 6. i am so proud of her for doing this. The information on this site is essential. Thank you again. :)
my son Joseph is being driven to.San Diego today with his recruiter. My son said they are going to test his physical ability and take a test and then get sworn in today. Do you know
does he have to have the calling card or can he just use his cell phone for the first call? I guess they will need it if they get to make calls later, right?
