He seems to like school -- at least he's doing good so far. I assume they are in the same class - Tim is Class 1042A.

Tim called me as soon as he got to GC. He said classes start 8/4 for MM A school. I shipped his laptop, pc and whatever else I could fit in the box to him yesterday. I sent it priority with insurance, so hopefully he'll get it tomorrow. Then we're going to try using skype to talk. It's wonderful getting an email or instant message from him during the day.

My son changed his mind and requested MM instead of ET. He said that ET's mostly just watch equipment and he wanted to be actually working on the reactor. He said he did get MM, but I have no idea what the difference between seaman or fireman is.

I had no idea that had to pick a specific area - thought it was just one thing. Also I kept hearing about 'A' school - and what's that. On the nuke group, I found an explanation of 'A' school, power school, and then prototype. I thought he'd be spending 2 years at GC, but he might go (or might have to) somewhere else for prototype. I've been spending a lot of time reading since he's been at boot camp (and I thought I was pretty prepared before he left).

have you joined the nuke group? I don't understand a lot of what they say, but I've absorbed some :-).

has your husband decided which of the 3 positions he wants to request? There are MM, EM, and ET groups - my son is requesting ET.
