I'm 23 years old and just married my boyfriend of almost 7 years. He leaves for boot camp on May 11th and I have a thousand questions and concerns, naturally. I'm here for comfort and support from women who are going through and who have made it through what I'm about to experience.

Any idea how long you will get to stay up at Great Lakes? Where will A school be? I hope to run over to Indy yet this summer--I'll let you know!

Hi, Sara, and welcome to Indiana Moms! I'm the administrator for the group, so if you have any questions, please ask. My son is a Nuke MM serving on the submarine ALABAMA, based out of Bangor, WA. He's been in for 3-1/2 years.

By the way, there's a monthly informal dinner in Avon which meets on third Mondays. We always post it on the Events Calendar because we rotate among a few restaurants. Check May 17 for this month's details. We're also starting to discuss the 65th anniversary of the USS INDIANAPOLIS Reunion this summer; so stay tuned!

The 8 weeks of bootcamp are tough for the sailor AND the wife, but they WILL pass! Just write as much as you can, keep telling him he can do it, and that you're proud of him and love him, no matter what happems. And if you attend PIR ("Pass In Review" = graduation), you'll be so proud that your chest will hurt!

Jump in with any questions or comments you may have. I think you'll find we're a nice bunch of folks and always willing to lend an ear to listen or a shoulder to cry on. Hugs! k.

Hi sarac287, I see you are just at the start of Navy life. It can be a great life with lots of wonderful bonding but it does have it's moments...like every marriage! I was a Navy wife for 10 years, my hubby was an FC. We've lived in some fabulous places like California, Japan - in fact one of our kids was born in Japan and he is now an FC himself and stationed in Hawaii! It will be a while before your hubby knows if he is an FC or ET but they are both great rates with lots of schooling on the front end. Expect for him to be in GL for the next year and then he will move to another state for C school. That is determined at the end of C school. The AECF program is one of the few rates that allows for the spouse to be moved to A school, etc. So depending on your situation - you could be in GL with him!!! We have a great group with lots of good support - stop by often!!

Welcome to N4M. Your key to adjusting is finding a group where you can feel comfortable and get answers to your questions – Click on the underlined links:
1. New Moms Stop Here group. You should think of this group as your orientation station. We do have a number of experienced members who can answer questions and point you in the right direction.
2. Depper’s… in but not yet . is a group for those just waiting for bootcamp to start (Delayed Entry Program – a depper)
3. Boot Camp Moms group. Is he/she already in bootcamp? Or just about to go in? This is the group.
4. OCS Graduate Moms or the NROTC Moms. For those going to be an officer or going to NROTC?
Read this blog to get a jump start on how to use the N4M site.
Welcome to New Members

Of particular importance is the use of the “Search” function. You should do searches in blogs, forums, discussions for answers in previously posted threads BEFORE adding a NEW blog/discussion.

Check your page (click on MY PAGE) & status box (INBOX) often.

Best of luck, BunkerBee and AbbyblueOK (from the New Moms Stop Here Group)

Hi--what part of Indy? I graduated from Carmel High and met my hubby through Butler U. Congrats on recent wedding! There is a group page somewhere here called something like "Girlfriends, Wives and Fiancees" that you may want to cruise around for.
Also, go ahead and join Boot Camp Mom's as there's good support there, too.
