DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

Amcart, you will find when you go to the 'group' tab at the top of the page, a number of boot camp mom groups...you may find one for your ship and division, I know you will find one with others that left for boot camp in Jan, you will find the original one that has over 1000 members...once time gets a little closer you will probably find one for your PIR...which has a blog in the center of the 'Main' page. Take some time and ask questions within these groups. You will definately find others going through the same feelings, issues, ups and downs that you are experiencing.

I agree totally. I will tell you that the little things mean so much more when this is over. I am pretty sure that i cried daily for atleast ten days.
You should be getting a box soon of all his stuff that he had on when he arrived at BC. Then you will get your form letter. That will have info about grad and his address. He will also have about 5 lines to write in. As soon as you get the address, start writing. Mail is SOOO important to them! Keeps them strong:)
Boot camp is an emotional roller coaster for them as much as us. Right now, the best advice I can give you is try to be as strong as possible when you write (keep it positive) and when they call. I try my hardest not to cry when I do get the call but as soon as we hang up, I am a mess.
Just remember that crying is ok... it helps. :)

Welcome. I just wanted to stop by and check up on you. These first few weeks are the hardest. Please know we are all here if you need to talk/vent/cry... anything!

Hi, Amcart55, and welcome to Indiana Moms! I'm the administrator for the group, so if you have any questions, please ask. By the way, there's a monthly informal dinner in Avon which meets on third Mondays. I know it'd be a drive for you, but if you're ever in town please just drop by. Click Jan 18 on the Events calendar (right-hand column) for those details. We're also discussing a future shopping trip to the Edinburgh outlet stores, so stay tuned!

The 8 weeks of bootcamp are tough for the sailor AND his mom, but they WILL pass! Just write him as much as you can, keep telling him he can do it, and that you're proud of him and love him, no matter what. And if you attend his PIR ("Pass In Review" = graduation), you'll be so proud that your chest will hurt!

Just jump in with any questions or comments you may have. I think you'll find we're a nice bunch of folks and always willing to lend an ear to listen or a shoulder to cry on. Hugs! k.Delete Comment

Welcome aboard!! Come join us on the Indiana group page on this website! You will find a lot of support on this website. You may want to do a search by going to the 'Groups' tab at the top of this page for both DEPPER's and Boot Camp groups. Then check out the center of the Main page for the 'PIR for dummies' discussion for lots of helpful tips on that great event at the end of boot camp.
