OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

Navy Prayer

O Eternal Lord God, who alone spreadest out the heavens and rulest the raging of the sea; vouchsafe to take into Thy almighty and most gracious protection our country's Navy and all who serve therein. Preserve them from the dangers of the sea and from the violence of the enemy; that they may be a safeguard unto the United States of America and a security for such as pass on the seas upon their lawful occasions; that the inhabitants of our land may in peace and quietness serve Thee our God to the glory of Thy name.
Amen.

Dear Navy Moms,

May the Lord shine His Love on each of your Navy sons/daughters and bless them and guide them each day. And, may the Lord bless each of you as you burn the blue candles in your homes and, in your hearts.

If we can entrust them to the One who created them, we can be at peace because we know that He loves each of those sailors more than we do. And, we know how much we love and miss them. Blue Candles Burning with Love,

Mary Liz

We are originally from Vermont. In 2004 We moved to Pinellas Park Florida.  I work for a Paintball manufacturer.  I have always supported by boys in what ever they wanted to do.  My oldest son, Derek, was in band, marching band & jazz band where he played Tenor Sax & Bari Sax.  I joined the Band Boosters and was Treasurer for 3 years.  Derek told me before he finished his junior year in high school that he wanted to join the military.  He originally was talking with the Air Force and after the recruiter didn't call him back, he ended up talking with the Navy when they called.  After meeting with the Navy Recruiter, Derek decided that the Navy was a good fit for him.  Now that he has been in Since 2009, Derek says that he wants to make it his career.  My youngest son, Nathan, is at boot camp PIR 11/10/11.  Nathan was also in the band, marching band, & jazz band where he played baritone horn, tuba and trombone.  Nathan told me the summer before his senior year "Mom, everyone keeps asking me what I want to do after high school.  When we did a section in physics on nuclear power, it intrigued me."  I told him that if it intrigued him that he should look for a job in that field.  So Navy was his choice and from his ASVAB score he qualified for Nukes.  Nathan's SAT scores were Reading 560, Math 680 & Writing 510.  The Navy recruiter wanted him to go to college and then go into boot camp as an officer.....but Nathan wanted Nukes.  So once again we are anxiously waiting for PIR date to arrive so that we can go and watch him graduate.    This time instead of Nathan sitting next to me, I will have my Navy son Derek sitting next to me in uniform.  The day I have a sailor on both arms is coming soon and I can't wait to walk proudly between them.
