A little about me:
Wow! What a question to start off with. Honestly, I can't ever remember being anything but Jarads mom. Ive been "Mom" for so long I don't know how to just all of a sudden not be. So, we will stick to the basics for now. I'm 49 years old. I live in West Virginia with my husband of 23 years and my sons Jarad (18) and Dalton (16). Before Jarad was born, I was an administrative assistant (fancy name for a secretary) but when Dalton came along and daycare began to cost more than I made, I became a stay-at-home mom.

The Navy offers opportunities that...
I haven't learned much so far. I can say that everyone we have dealt with up to this point has not only been helpful, but gone out of their way for us. Its been a very easy thing. So far that is.
There is one other thing about me that might be useful in understanding me. I am an only child raised by a single mom. What I'm getting at is that I spent a lot of time alone as a child and had great responsibilities from a very young age. My husband says as a result, I've overcompensated when it came to my own children. I'm not sure what to do with the idea that I'm no longer responsible for my sons care.
My son only just left for boot camp on April 19, so I don't know what experiences are in store for us in the future. Right now I only know he is gone and there is a very clean empty bedroom where I wish he was.
I hope I'm not over sharing.

We just found out that our son is being held over to redo his run and won't be graduating with his div on Friday.  He did say that where he is now he will be eligiable for a leave during that time.  Will we be able to see him on Friday even if he is not graduating.

WHAT A GREAT DAY! My Best Friend Called.

Posted on May 4, 2013 at 8:30pm 5 Comments

It was totally unexpected.  We didn't expect to hear from him today.  We thought it would be another week, that we would get a letter before a phone call.  When I herd "Hey...Mom?" my heart skipped a beat.  He sounded good and seemed to be adjusting well.  Especially having only been in Boot for 15 days.  I still miss him like crazy ,but I'm glad for him.  Its the first time since high school graduation that I think he has really been happy.  He secure in the knowledge that he has…
