Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."
Follow this link for OPSEC Guidelines:
**UPDATE as of 11/10/2022 PIR vaccination is no longer required.

Does your younger son (and future Sailor) have a ship date?
Facebook will be great for keeping you in contact with your Sailor once he is in "A" School and in the fleet. You can check the RTC’s fB page with or without a facebook account and there will be pictures there after PIR. Some people like the facebook groups better than N4M, but I am concerned with PERSEC since real names are posted on fB and do not recommend posting often if you do choose to join.
Yes, Division 908 is Ship Staff/Honor Guard. See the info in the Page, 800 and 900 Divisions. No, he will not have any duties during the 12/12/2014 PIR since Division 905 is also Ship Staff/Honor Guard and will have PIR on that date.
Don't forget to make at least change 3.
I have a LOT of info in the Pages (found under the pictures of the Members) in Boot Camp Moms (and loved ones). Read on or two a day and then go back to them as you need them. There are 20 of them, but you won't need the last one.
If your Username contains your last name, you need to make changes 1, 2, and 3 at the bottom of OPSEC and PERSEC (Making Changes to Your Profile) (clickable link). There may be other changes you need to make as well, so read and consider each of the changes.
I see you have joined AECF - FCs and ETs; your recruit will discover his rating while in BC, usually near the end of BC. "A" School is in GL, so you will also want to join Great Lakes A School Q&A and GL A-school moms. You can also check out the Training Support Center (TSC) Great Lakes Facebook Page. The Rating Information Card for AECF can be found at https://www.cool.navy.mil/usn/enlisted/rating_info_cards/aecf.pdf. The Rating Information Card for Electronics Technician (ET) can be found at https://www.cool.navy.mil/usn/enlisted/rating_info_cards/et.pdf and the one for Fire Controlman (FC) can be found at https://www.cool.navy.mil/usn/enlisted/rating_info_cards/fc.pdf. You will be able to enjoy extra time with your Sailor following PIR. (See PIR Day and Liberty During PIR Weekend.)
Welcome to Boot Camp Moms (and loved ones). I look forward to sharing this journey with you. Be sure to check out the Pages (found under the pictures of the Members) for information on what to expect and to help you prepare for PIR. Start with OPSEC and PERSEC (Making Changes to Your Profile) and Arrival and What Happens at the RTC and read 1 or 2 pages a day and then go back to them as you need the info. Take care and blessings to you and yours.
Thanks for the Friend request; I hope we can be around for some time to support each other. If there is ever anything I can help you with, don't hesitate to ask. Take care and blessings to you and yours.
