OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

Follow this link for OPSEC Guidelines:

**UPDATE as of 11/10/2022 PIR vaccination is no longer required.

**UPDATE 7/29/2021** You now must be fully vaccinated in order to attend PIR:

RTC Graduation

Please see changes to attending PIR in the PAGES column. The PAGES are located under the member icons on the right side.

Hi there! I just now discovered that I have a "comment wall" on my home page. Duh! (I'm new to this online support group thing.)

To answer your question: We are staying at SpringHill Suites (Waukegan). Read good reviews about it on And some other moms told me -- just this morning -- that they had a good experience there, or they know someone else who did. Where are you staying?

Amrik'smom-I'm not quite sure, but when I send the next letter to my daughter I will ask and if you find out first, let me know.

When I talked with Amrik on Monday, he said that he is not a GnG. We get to spend the whole weekend with him....even Monday!!!! I am soooooo excited! I'm assuming that will be true for the whole division.

Do you know if we are supposed to take anything to them for them to take on to A-school?

Hi, Julie. Thanks for letting me know your son plays trombone. My son played drums during high school... so I'm guessing he volunteered to play in the boot camp performing division. I'm kind of piecing this all together based on the posts I've been reading in this group.

I'm from Illinois -- about 3 hours away from Great Lakes. Are you going to be able to attend the PIR on Sept. 2?

Julie, Andrew is 6'0. He never once mentioned that. (and I'm pretty sure he would have!) I read that too when he was in BC. I think it depends on their commanding officers and what they decide (basically, their entire day depends on them!!) I'm waiting on a call from Andrew today about his leave chit to come home for a week. So, I'll ask him and let you know what he says.
