Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

We have a great group of Navy moms/dads (and some wives) up in the Santa Rosa/Petaluma area. We had a big Meet and Greet at the Chicago Pizza one year. Another year, a Navy family invited us to their house for a big BBQ complete with home made wine. And of course, you can venture to the other counties too for more meet and greets. Where is your son now?  What is his specialty?

Lesley: we will be flying out of San Diego.  On the best of days I am not good at making decisions.  And like you this is going to be a real stretch out of my comfort zone. This will be like our own personal "Amazing Race". hahaha

Hi Lesley...I will definitely let you know as soon as I hear anything.  I just mailed out a "questionnaire" to my son with ALL my questions offering him multiple choice answers.  I got the idea from navyformoms.  I made it funny but it will hopefully give me a better idea of how things are going and where they are at in their journey.  Now my daughter, daughterinlaw and I are trying to make travel arrangements (with two babies)!  I haven't taken any kind of trip in over 5 years and this process is stressing me out, big time.  What airport to fly into?  Where to stay? Rent a car? AND what airport will my son fly out of so that we can get his cell phone to him?  It's nerve wracking.  What are you going to do?

The Page, 800 and 900 Divisions, within Boot Camp Moms (and loved ones) will be of interest to you since you have a recruit in a performing division. I believe that Division 924 is Ship Staff/Honor Guard.

Make change 3 at the bottom of OPSEC and PERSEC (Making Changes to Your Profile) (clickable link). There may be other changes you need to make as well, so read and consider each of the changes.

Welcome to Boot Camp Moms (and loved ones). I look forward to sharing this journey with you. Be sure to check out the Pages (found under the pictures of the Members) for information on what to expect and to help you prepare for PIR. Start with OPSEC and PERSEC (Making Changes to Your Profile) and Arrival and What Happens at the RTC and read 1 or 2 pages a day and then go back to them as you need the info. What is your SR's rating (job/specialty) going to be? There are groups for most ratings and/or "A" Schools and knowing that will help you to better plan for PIR weekend. Take care and blessings to you and yours.

Hi Lesley.  Great to hear from you. Yes we also received the "form" letter yesterday March 8.  Yeah!  One step closer.  Now we wait for the next phone call and hopefully letter(s).  He will be calling his wife but I told her AS SOON as he calls, let me know! LOL  I am excited to hear what all the 924 division will be doing?  I wonder if they had their first practice yesterday.  I am always wondering "what are they doing today?"  Have they starting training yet.  Maybe this week?  All so exciting.

Welcome Lesley! My son hasn't left for BC yet either, he leaves in July. When does your child leave? We live in Northern Nevada, so not too far fron you. If you have any questions, don't hesitate to ask. There are so many helpful Moms on N4M that will help. I've learned so much from N4M and I still have a lot more to learn, but I feel so much more educated thanks to this site!
