OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

My son left yesterday

Posted on June 18, 2013 at 9:08pm 7 Comments

OK I am new at this. My son left yesterday. We drove him to the recruiting station and my husband and I walked out with my son and his recruiter. I hugged my son but I was too broken up to speak. I did not want him to know I was falling apart. I cried the rest of the day because I did not tell him that I loved him.

Hello....My name is David and I am Jon Tuttle's Father. He is Port Watch Leader on ship 13 DIV 305. He is also friends with Nathan who is Starboard Watch Leader same ship and Division. His mom is "Nates Mom" on this site. If I understand it correctly, they will be in Battle Stations all day today and we should expect a call from them tomorrow when they trade in their Recruit Hats for Sailors Caps. Just a few more days....Hang in there and Ill see you all on Friday. I think a lot of people are going to try and meet at Sarg's Meet and Greet. I think he runs a Taxi Service up there so I dont know how he is involved.

Also, when I wrote Gabe last night, I did ask him if he knew Dan from NY. I've still only gotten 1 letter!

Hey Margavant28. I'm a nurse, too. My son (13/305) called today too, but I missed the calls because my cell doesn't always have a great signal in the hospital. Glad to hear our division is doing well! His voicemail was brief, but he sounded good.
Did your SR tell you anything else? Like what they are doing this week, etc.

Welcome to Boot Camp Moms (and loved ones); I look forward to sharing this journey with you. Join the group, DEP-Leavin for bootcamp in June, to connect with others with loved ones who left the same day and may have PIR together. What is your SR's rating (job/specialty) going to be? There are groups for most ratings and/or "A" Schools and knowing that will help you to better plan for PIR weekend. Take care and blessings to you and yours.
