My son called me from A school in San Antonio, and said he's going to be a MA Riverine. I've looked it up, and now I really scared about what he will do.. How often are they sent out...what do they do on a daily.. the one good thing he got orders in our hometown..

Click on OPSEC and PERSEC (Making Changes to Your Profile) and the Page will open in a new window. Read the Page and follow the directions at the bottom to make change 3 (see the words in bold) so that this page is no longer visible to ANYONE with access to the web. There may be other changes you need to make as well, so read and consider each of the changes.
Hi, I see you have joined San Antonio MA's. Master at Arms is a rating very dear to my heart since my Sailor is an MA. The discussion, Break down week by week, within San Antonio MA's will let you know what happens at NTTC Lackland (San Antonio). You will also want to join MAA Moms. Other groups to check out are New MAA Mom's (it has not been very active) and Security Sailors (it is not very active and includes loved ones of Sailors from other ratings as well). The Rating Information Card for MA can be found at https://www.cool.navy.mil/enlisted/rating_info_cards/ma.pdf; it indicates 9 weeks, but "A" School is 7 weeks after classing up. Your Sailor will most likely fly out to "A" School the day after PIR. See PIR Day and Liberty during PIR Weekend within Boot Camp Moms (and loved ones) to help you know how to plan your weekend. Take care and blessings to you and yours.
Join DEP-Leavin for bootcamp in August, to connect with others with loved ones who left the same day and may have PIR together.
Be sure to review the Pages in Boot Camp Moms (and loved ones) beginning with OPSEC and PERSEC (Making Changes to Your Profile) and Arrival and What Happens at the RTC and read 1 or 2 pages a day and then go back to them as you need the info. What is your SR's rating (job/specialty) going to be? There are groups for most ratings and/or "A" Schools and knowing that will help you to better plan for PIR weekend. Take care and blessings to you and yours.

Thank you so much for the feed back , I'll start looking for apartments close to the safest area :)
I looked for his assigned ship and is in the base on 32nd street.
I'll ask him which base later in the afternoon. We would like an appartment, a 1/1 , yesterday he said he wanted to live close to the beach, so I believe it would be a little pricey too. We are from Miami so I know the difference when you live close and far from the beach, today I started printing maps of San Diego :) my sister told me about the pandas too :) I will for sure go see them once we settle there
Welcome to Boot Camp Moms (and loved ones). I look forward to sharing this journey with you. Be sure to check out the Pages (found under the pictures of the Members) for information on what to expect while you have a recruit and to help you prepare for PIR. Join the group, PIR 08/16/2013 TG 40 - 13 Divisions (299-310, and 940), to connect with others with loved ones training with your SR. What is your SR's rating (job/specialty) going to be? There are groups for most ratings and/or "A" Schools. You have mentioned that he will fly out to "A" School in Mississippi, so be prepared for him to fly out the day after PIR. See PIR Day and LibertyDuring PIR Weekend. Take care and blessings to you and yours.
