Hi Patty,  That is great that Justin gets to stay in Texas after graduation.  I bet that makes you feel really good!  Kevin will get 10 days off after graduation and he has to report to Fort McKenry in our home town one weekend a month.  He will go back to his job before boot camp.  It is great that Kevin's job works around his Naval schedule.  My daughter and I are flying to Texas next week to see Kevin before Christmas.  I know that he is coming home in January but he is home sick and I thought it would be nice to spend time with him at the holidays.  We have never been to Texas and we are excited to see Kevin and have him show us around. It is snowing here and it would be so great to get into some warmer weather too!!  My husband is staying here with my younger son.  It was too expensive to fly all of us there.  Hope you have a great Christmas!

Hi, How did your Thanksgiving weekend go with Justin? I bet Justin was really happy to be home. We really missed Kevin being here. First time we ever had sooo many leftovers! lol. He called me and told me that there were a couple bus loads of sailors that went to Thanksgiving lunch. Told me that everyone stood up and clapped for them when all the sailors came in. He felt very proud. He sent me pictures that he took of San Antonio. He went to the riverwalk and the Alamo. Very nice pictures! He told me how much he loves Texas. He starts testing for the machine guns this week and told me tonight that he has to study for a test tomorrow. Kevin is excited to get phase 3. He will be able to leave base until 11:00 PM.

Hi Patty, I know what you mean. Kevin said getting sprayed was the worst day in his life. I worried so much about him, thankfully the horrible things are all over with. He called me Friday & Sat. Night. He got liberty to leave base for each day. He told that he and his friends had a wonderful time. They went to Riverwalk and to the Alamo. I laughed when he told me that they all went to HOOTERS!!! He knows Justin and told me to tell you that he talked to him yesterday and he is doing fine. His face is not red anymore. After I kept decribing Justin to him, he figured out who he is. Kevin is going to call me tonight and tell me how his day went in town today. He told me that they were going to Sea World. I was going to visit him at Christmas but he wants us to come to his graduation and come home with us. My church put his military picture into the newsletter and his address to send him greetings at Christmas since he will not be coming home. I thought that was very nice.

Talk to you soon,

Kim

Hi, That was so great that you got to see Justin and have lots of fun with him. Kevin told me how big the base was. He was amazed of all the things there. I always ask Kevin if he knows Justin too but he also said no. I still do not know how to put pictures on the computer yet. Have to wait for Kevin to show me. If you have Justin's division picture, Kevin is standing next to (A) flag on the left hand side. He is the 4th one up. Is Justin in the same row as Kevin in the middle? He looks like the same sailor in your pictures.

Hi Pattie, You are so lucky that you are going to see Justin on Saturday. I know he will be so excited to see you! Talked to Kevin last night and he had to do the dreaded pepper spray. He did it on Friday. He told me to go on Utube and look under ma oc spray and you will see what they have to do. They had 5 min. to complete the task with pepper spray on them. He did it in 3min 14 sec. It is terrible to hear about all of the awful things that they have to endure. He is so glad that this part is all over with! He starts gun training all this week. Kevin also had to take a test to earn Liberty. He told me that he will probaly be home in Mid January. Since he will not be coming home for Christmas, I am seriously thinking about flying down to see him if I can get a decent price for airline tickets. My younger children and I both get 2 weeks off for Christmas and it would be really fun to visit him. Do you know who Kevin is? It would be great if you see him and tell me how he is doing.

Hi Pattie, I heard from Kevin again last night. It is so great hearing from him so oftern now! He is always telling me how much better things are now. Kevin tells me that there is a bowling alley, movies and restaurants all over the base. He is in his 3rd day of classes. He also tells me that not everyone he flew down Texas with started classes, some are in holding. Has your son started classes yet? Kevin enjoyed the air show on saturday. Did Justin see it too? I sent him a card and I can't believe how fast he got it. It is so much better than bootcamp!!!

No, it was not me that you met. I didn't know about the meet n greet :( My nephew called my sister-in-law to give her his new add. She shipped his phone and comp overnite for $100! It was signed for thursday at 9:00 a.m., and still he hasn't got it!! We are freaking out. I don't understand how some of them have their phone's already? My nephew didn't think he was aloud to take his stuff in with him when we dropped him off back on base sun. after his liberty. My family and I are so confused. Do you know if the recruits were aloud to take their stuff in with them on sunday?

You are so lucky to hear from Justin so often. Kevin does'nt have a cell phone yet. He promised me that he was going to get one real soon. His 2 yr contract expired just before he left and he wanted to pick out a new phone after bootcamp. That's great that you live so close to the base. What all did you do in Great Lakes? We went to the Mall on Friday and got lunch at Olive Garden and on Saturday we went to Chicago to the Sears tower . My 2 younger childredn were scared to go that high up but Kevin made them feel better and than they were glad they went. Alot of people came up and shook Kevin's hand and thanked him for serving. Did people come up to Justin too? Kevin got to try out some of his military discounts too.lol! He got in the tower for free and got discounts on food. The time sure did go quick!
