DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

It will be in his orders when he gets them. Most will get about 10 days of Leave before reporting to the first duty station. He will put in a chit for Leave near the end of his "A" School if he plans to take any. Over 5 years ago, my Sailor came home on Leave and then was to return to his "A" School and then report to his new command about a week later. That changed when he was on Leave so that he was to report to VA to fly to his first duty station right after his Leave, but then that changed back to the original orders when he let the command know the cost of changing his tickets.

You could join and check in AB - Moms, Sailors In Pensacola, FL For A School....Corry Station too!!, and/or Parents of A School Sailors in Pensacola. You may also want to check out Airman Family and Friends. The Rating Information Card for AB can be found at https://www.cool.navy.mil/enlisted/rating_info_cards/ab.pdf.

Thanks for the Friend request; I hope we can be around for some time to support each other. If there is ever anything I can help you with, don't hesitate to ask. Take care and blessings to you and yours.

I see that you have changed your Username so that it no longer contains your last name and email address; you also need to change the URL to this page to remove it from there as well. Number 2 at the bottom of OPSEC and PERSEC (Making Changes to Your Profile) (clickable link) will tell you how to fix that. There may be other changes you will want to make as well, such as change number 3. Take care and blessings to you and yours.

Welcome to Boot Camp Moms (and loved ones). I look forward to sharing this journey with you. Be sure to check out the Pages (found under the pictures of the Members) for information on what to expect and to help you prepare for PIR. What is your SR's rating (job/specialty) going to be? There are groups for most ratings and/or "A" Schools and knowing that will help you to better plan for PIR weekend. Take care and blessings to you and yours.

I'm sorry that you have had a bad experience on the site. Not everyone on here is as rude as you have seen. Please do join  Boot Camp Moms (and loved ones) and your PIR group when you find out the date. You mentioned that you have your recruit's address; what division is he in? The PIR group may already have been formed. (It is best to wait on the form letter before mailing letters--see Letter Writing & Fun Stuff/Questionnaires to send to your Recruit.)

You may want to join, or at least check out, Boot Camp Moms (and loved ones) and PIR Reference Information. Once you know your SR’s PIR date and/or division number, watch in Boot Camp Moms (and loved ones) and/or at http://www.navyformoms.com/forum/topics/groups-listed-by-pir-date and join the group for that once it has been created. There will be a lot of great information and support for you in those groups. Be sure to check out the Pages (found under the pictures of the Members) and Discussions within the groups. Arrival and What Happens at the RTC within Boot Camp Moms (and loved ones) will let you know what is happening, but you will also want to check out the other Pages in all of the groups.
