It was bittersweet to say the least.. I answered the phone and my baby was on the other end..."Hello Mama" My heart just sank... a huge knot swelled up in my throat and I could hardly speak. He sounded exhausted and rightly so..said that he just came off watch and they don't get but about five hours of sleep a night.. he said he was doing well...passing all of the tests and inspections with perfect scores... Subs is a hard life. But small community - more camaraderie.
I see your sailor is on his way to Nuke School. The Navy isn't going to allow him to switch to something in the medical field any time soon but he should still explore it anyway. You son should investigate into applying to the Naval Academy. If he has the brains to do nuke, he can become a surgeon - just a matter of opportunity. The Naval Academy reserves a number of slots every year for enlisted personnel.
Good luck.
today was a good day...I am thinking alot about Cameron. I know he is fine...just wish I could speak to him...hear his voice...
Gray, Ga is between Macon and Milledgeville....not very big just a small country town.
