Yes, they do forward mail, but it takes a while since someone has to look up where the new Sailor was sent. I know that I got a letter back once that I sent to a recruit who was sent home and others have indicated that if the Sailor has a short "A" School or training period that the RTC mail room sometimes returns letters to the sender rather than looking up the first duty station. I think I would email the PAO at rtc.pao@navy.mil and give them the details and the correct address and see if they can help with this.
Hello - yes Allen is very close compared to lots of the others! Seemed to be quite a few sub sailors in the Division. My son's last name is Gilbreath. He said there were 7 or 8 from 327 headed to Groton. He ran into an issue tho that has kept him there still - they lost his medical records! Lordy. So far they have tracked his file all the way back to Dallas MEPS - but they cant find it either. Trying to not worry about it and just understand that it will all work out, but I hate that he is SO excited to get up there and get started, but all he is doing now is cleaning stuff, running, working out, and hanging out in Records trying to get out of there! I am hoping he will either get there by the weekend, or that they will not have enough for a class to start until next week to give him more time to get there. Either way - he's happy and still as excited as the day he joined. And- he gets to call every evening :) WHat is your's name?
Awesome, tks so much for the info !! We are getting so close to 10-12! Cannot wait !! My phone has been glued to me since Aug 13th ! haha... Have a great day !
Thanks for the Friend request; I hope we can be around for some time to support each other. How long the Sailor has for the "I'm a Sailor!" calls is up to the RDC and then the Sailor decides how to divide that time among those he wants to call. Some have gotten an hour or more and others less time, but yes, you usually have time to chat a bit. If there is ever anything else I can help you with, don't hesitate to ask. Take care and blessings to you and yours
Thanks for the prayers. He and I both need them. When I got his bo there was a letter in there that let me know he was going to be ok. He said he knew that because he had God and us behind him. Said this was really what he wanted and thank you for pushing him! Made me smile. Prayers to you and yours also.
I would think he's already past the Marlinspike area if he's on the 4-2 day...
