Joanne,

Thanks for the note - my son is still in A school, class 030A and they'll be choosing their orders next week, on the 15th.  It looks like David may have graduated from bootcamp the week after your son.  His PIR date was 10/07.  Has your son chosen his orders yet?  This would be a great time to have a career counselor - the sooner the better!  I'm sure it will all work out for each of them, and if nothing else, they'll have to perfect their communications skills to get where they want to go!

Hi Joanne!

I received an answer from flangl18 (who has now changed her name...) that they'll be assigned a career counselor once they get to their first duty  station.  I wish it was sooner, since my son is looking for information about the STA-21 program.  There's plenty of info to read about that online, but sometimes you really need to talk to someone to figure out the finer points...  I hope your son is doing well!

I'm glad you found the 9/30/11 group. Since your Recruit is in a performing division, you may also want to join the Group, 900's division sailors. There will be information on there that relates to your situation.  Take care and blessings to you and yours.
