nursekim - I believe that God may be watching over your son, trying to protect him from unfortunate situations, even though it might seem to him, he just can't make friends. I do my best in the group to not come across too preachy and just presume. But I wanted to share that with you specifically. If that resonates with you and you would like to be a part of our Christian Navy Moms group on this site, just ask and I can get you connected. If this is not what you are looking for, that is fine. I understand. Also, feel free to send me a friend request.
I hope some others will reply as well.
Be sure to come join the Beyond BC - Navy For Moms (ning.com) group if you haven't already. I have not been keeping up as well with who has joined once they go the "I'm a Sailor" call or afterwards. Thanks for sharing about your weekend!! The special treatment was neat to hear about firsthand. I have seen pictures from PIRs in the past, but it is nice to hear someone experience it.
Congrats Nursekim on your new Sailor! MY son left to BC on 7/7 and his graduation is also scheduled for 9/16. I have been racking my mind this week wondering if Battle Stations was this week or next week for him. Since I have not received my "I'm a sailor" call I was thinking it is probably next week until I saw your post. My son is DIV 312 and since you your Sailor has my son's graduation date, I was wondering if by chance they were in the same division? I'm just trying to figure out when I will receive my call too? This is torture for me.
nursekim - congrats to your SR! His position can have pros and cons so encouragement is always in order.
Nursekim - You are welcome!! I am glad that you also posted in your other group as well. To answer your question, you might find my discussion What PIR weekend may be like for those flying out of GL - Navy For Moms (ning.com) helpful. This will apply to your son as well. During the last couple of years, some things have changed as well, and always flexible is our motto around here (Semper Gumby), but it was my experience when I went to BC to see my son.
Nursekim - Good Evening, I am one of the moms that sticks around the BC Mom and loved ones group. I had a notice that you had recently joined. I just wanted to welcome you both to the N4M site and also the BC Mom group. There is a lot of information on our group page, but if you scroll down past that information, past the Discussions, you will see the Comment Wall area. That is where we post our hellos, questions, encouragement, answers to questions, and general information. We suggest that you scroll back through a few of the pages and read some of the recent information that has been shared.
Also, I see that you joined the MAA Moms group. I am not a member of that group, so I cannot post comments on it, but I can direct other new members there, so I recommend that you post there and maybe meet up with some other recent new members.
