Boot Camp in mid-April

my son left from Houston to GR April 19 Ship 11 Div 213

Still getting used to not having him around, trying to keep busy. Getting lots done around the house! Little good in everything. I will feel much better when I can hear his voice again. I know he is taken care of and is quite capable of succeeding where he puts forth the effort.I never thought I would have such a hard time holding back tears, even when I was straightening up his room - a task that would have probably made me mad a few weeks ago. I do wish I could see him learning how to fold… Continue

Should I join the Navy?

Hello all! =)

The last time I was on N4M was when my boyfriend of 3 years left for Great Lakes in January. I found this site to be incredibly helpful and a huge support to get me through until he graduated in March. (so I thought I could get your help again...lol) Since he has been back, I have noticed all of the wonderful changes in him and all the new possibilities available to him now that he's in the Navy. It's made me start to think about my future and what I would like to…

Boot camp makes the heart grow fonder.....

My oldest child, my beloved and only daughter left for boot camp a week ago today. It's been a wild and exciting ride thus far! I never knew my heart could feel so many emotions in such little time. Yesterday, I received the form letter and the box within an hour of each other, and it felt like Christmas!

I am impressed that my daughter could cram so many words onto those four lines! I get the idea she dislikes the food and misses my cooking. She's also worried she looks like…

BLESSINGS PAID FORWARD

We turned a corner last weekend; another one of those milestones in which you can't turn back. It was the selling of our son's bright red Toyota 4Runner. The symbolic nature of it didn't escape me... As the clock continues to tick away the minutes into days, I find more and more that God provides me opportunities to let go...

When Erik turned 17 he learned to drive, although it wasn't without it's mishaps. I mean, how many of us can honestly say… Continue

Frustrations

How do you know when you are getting the run a round with your recruiter? After talking with recruiter, how long should it be before taking the ASVAB test? And then how long before the MEPS is scheduled? Woman's intuition kicking in and think her son is being put off. Had 2 dates for testing and neither have materialized with no real explanation. Any suggestions any one?

Thinking about joining

Hello All,

I am 23 years old, and going through a divorce. My soon to be ex husband has been in the navy for almost 4 years now, and we have been married for about 2. I loved being a Navy wife, and did my best to support him, however after his second deployment it seems things had changed, and he decided he did not want our life anymore. It was difficult at first, but I am accepting this as each day goes on. Now I begin the new challenge of building my life on my own. I…

Hello,

I'm hoping someone out there will be willing to share hotel information with me. I have checked into the Ramada Inn & Holiday Inn & Suites in Waukegan, IL - but have never stayed in either. If you have stayed in either place - please share your opinion of them with me. I do not know the area at all - so would appreciate an experienced opinion... as well as any other graduation weekend information you would be willing to share with me.

What are the requirements of reenlistment and what are the disadvantages of reenlistment?

My daughter is about to complete her five years of service by Nov 2010. She decided to sign up for another four years of service. I would like to know this... what are the requirements for a sailor to reenlist for four years after five years of service? My daughter is thinking about going to Lakehurst, NJ. Does anyone know about this Navy base? Do they like it there or is it not good to go there?
