SHE DID IT

I had got the sad call on yesterday, and I felt so bad for her, but I encouraged her in those 2 minutes and let her know how proud I am of her and that she is doing great. Then today I got a call that said Mom I passed today I will be graduating on time. I was smiling from ear to ear and so excited for her and to know she didn't give up. Whew what a relief, thanks ladies for your prayers and encouragement it really does take a village.

I Got The Sad Call

My daughter called today to let me know she didnt pass the prone float of the swim test. She sounded so sad, but they let me talk to her for 2 minutes, I encouraged her and told her she will pass next time and that I was so proud of her. So she will not be graduating May 5th. Can anyone tell me what happens to her now. I feel bad because she was so sad, Im sure she will get it next time

New to Boot Camp

This is my first time on this wonderful site.  My son arrived at boot camp early AM on the 21st.  We just received the  box yesterday with all of his belongings except his wallet, I am hoping they allowed them to keep this.

Would love to hear from other Mother's who have a son or daughter that arrived the same time.

Day 21!

My son called this past Saturday, and I was so excited to hear from him!  He said it was a bit of a adjustment, but that he's doing okay.  He is in Division 170, and his graduation is June 2nd.  We are already planning for our trip up there!

Great Lakes, IL

My son left 4/06. I got a text saying he landed at O'Hare around 9:00pm. The call came in at 1:45am "mom I am good, expect the box soon, a letter will arrive with my address and other info, love you mom, bye". The box came exactly a week after by FedEx. The letter a couple of days after that. I've written twice. Today is his 19th day at Boot Camp. His graduation is on June 2nd. Can't wait to see him! I am so, so proud that he has made this commitment. My best to all the young men and women…

Moving on to Week 2

Like many of you, I too have experienced the overwhelming multitude of emotions that accompanies transitioning your child to SR. Thankfully we are moving into week 2!! Receiving his Form Letter was a real treat to end my day and I was finally able to send him some letters. He has several cousins who are all eager to write to him so I hope it keeps his spirit strong. We continue to pray for his and all SR's safety, health and strength as they focus on their futures. God Bless and thank you for… Continue

Concerned mom

Ok, I get a call over the weekend that my son has hurt his knee real bad, may require surgery. Can they do rehab there during basic so he can finish basic. He does not want to opt out. He was told that he could opt out, have surgery and then re-enlist. He really wants to stay and finish. I don't know where to turn or what to do

What a surprise!

My grandson went to MEPS for 3rd time only expecting to retake his ASVAB and choose a job yesterday, then early this morning I get a call from his Mom that he is being sworn in at Fort Lee at 10:30 AM!!  Here we go beginning the life of a NAVY family - hold on for the wave!  So very proud of his decision and knowing that he is a child of the KING and will be followed 24-7-365 by his Savior/Creator/Holy Spirit for protection, provision, peace, and guidance - we praise the Lord!

A new normal

Our son/brother left for boot camp at Great Lakes yesterday 4-18. We are all just so overcome with emotion but we feel sort of numb at the same time. Everything is different, not necessarily bad or good...just different. Morning routines don't consist of picking up the cereal bowl from his room, ALL of the towels aren't on his floor, I don't hear video game machine guns at all hours of the night...it's different. Our youngest daughter couldn't get ahold of daddy today so she instinctively… Continue

Left for Basic yesterday

Yesterday was a hard day for me and our family. We went to Ft. Jackson in Columbia and watched our " young man " swear into the Navy. It was the hardest thing I as a mother have ever done, to turn and walk away after I hugged, kissed him, and told him how proud I was of him and that I loved him. Then I got the last call last night around 10 pm, telling me he was in Chicago and fine and that he loved us. Tears streamed down my face as I held the phone after he hung up, knowing I could not…

Kid in a Box

We received our "kid in a box" box on Thursday, April 13th!  It was a little surprising to me that it came so quickly.  I was prepared to wait a bit longer before receiving his belongings.  Next we wait on receiving the letter with his PIR date and information on how we can send him letters!  This is an exciting journey, and I wish him and all the other recruits well on their journey.

Hull Technician in Norfolk, VA

Hello everyone!

I'm new at this website so I'll tell you a bit about my husband and I. We got married in February and he just graduated as a Hull Technician last week. We got stationed in Norfolk, VA and we've been a little scared of pretty much picking up our things and moving all the way to the other side of the U.S. I'm still trying to get my B.A. here in Cali and thankfully I graduate in December but its been hard deciding if I want to stay or leave with my sailor.

I was…

Dear US Navy...

Dear US Navy:

I give to you my son. I held him as an infant; I hugged him as a boy

and through the years he has become my pride and joy.

I love him more than I can say, his life more precious than my own, but gone are the whims and notions of the little boy I had known.

For the years have passed so quickly from the time it all began

and now he'll stand before me with the conviction of a man.

He wants to be a Sailor, he…

Our DEP is on the way to MEPS

The Journey has started!

My fabulous step-son left Sunday to head to the hotel he was to stay at the night before attending MEPS and getting his orders to fly out to RTC.  I am so very proud of him.  He had his cell phone with him and was texting his dad along his way while traveling.  He had one layover in one airport and let us know when he got there, and he again texted whenever he was about to get off the plane and check in with the officials waiting on him and other recruits in Chicago.  I have been excited…

Received my form letter! Yay!

Received the form letter Saturday!  I can't begin to say how happy receiving that letter made me! I hope everyone whose family member left for boot camp around 3/27 have received their letter, and if not hang on it is coming.

Your son will go to Booth Camp, 5-22

He can do it! Booth Camp for Marine, Navy...Officer (OCS)? First, tell/assure him all the positive words of wisdom that he needs to be strong & tough, not a quitter. It is very hard, seriously speaking, you have to walk/run carrying more than 45 lbs suit in your body, they teach you to be more alert during the night that you even though you don't wear a "night vision", you'll feel & see what in your environment. Uniform should be well pressed, hair should be short & clean. They…

It started early....

When did you see that certain something in your child that would take them all the way here ?

Was it that inherent sense of right and wrong?

Did they like to watch the history channel?

We had monumental air soft battles in our yard , they set up tents and dug trenches , even set off smoke bombs. Thank goodness we have a bit of land between us and the neighbors?

Does your recruit have strong protective instincts ?

Did they like parades and… Continue
