My son-in-law is having problems.

My daughter went into bootcamp on 4/25, she graduates on 6/22. She is 28 years old and has been married for 7 years. My son-in-law has severe diabetes and doesn't have a job right now and needs help with medical insurance and rent and other monetary problems. The Navy has told him he will not receive any kind of pay or anything else until my daughter graduates from bootcamp. He will be without an apartment and without his meds. They sent him paperwork for him to get his ID, but they were not…

Mother's day, letters, and waiting.

My first ever mothers day without both my boys. I had a slight hope that there might be a phone call although I really didn't expect it. I lived with my phone all day. Where I went, it came too. Keeping busy helped. Watching the boards and seeing the happy moms getting their letter didn't. It was like a bite I couldn't help scratching. I had to look and celebrate their happiness. Then Monday came. I couldn't wait to get home and check the mail. It's been awfully empty lately and I tried to… Continue

SON JUST SPRUNG THE NEWS

My 18 year old just sprung the news on us that he is interested in meeting with a Navy recruiter and enrolling within the next year. Not sure where to get started. Two of his friends are interested in joining as well and want to do boot camp together. Is there still a military buddy system that allows this?

Goodbye DEP, Hello BootCamp!

Erin is at MEPS right now, clearing her final medical, getting travel briefings, etc. I will leave very soon to go

witness her swearing in ceremony and then dash to the airport to wait with her until she departs for bootcamp.

I thought I would be terribly sad this morning knowing the day has come to kiss her so-long (hate goodbyes).

I am not sad. I am full of excitement and pride for the young woman I have raised. I will miss her horribly, but I know

this is the…

Suggestion on Banking Options

I am a new member. My son leaves in 7 weeks. I am wondering if he should set up his banking prior to leaving and if so what has been others experience on the options to choose from?

I also would like suggestions on travel for graduation ie: place to have a celebration and hotel to stay that includes a shuttle.

Thank you:)

Day 2 Chris K9 Handler Training graduation week

Evening.

Day 2 with Chris. Got to spend only a couple hours with him. Disappointed, but understand. He's up at 04:00, full day, Cross Fit & then we want a piece of him. We did experience a baseline Cross Fit while he did his, full on, thing. I was happy we lived through it & surprised Al & I did as well as we did!

After exploring a gun shop, we had wonderful Mexican at Los Barrios, YUM - YUM! Owner/chef has won a couple throw downs with Bobby Flay. We concur… Continue

Seeing my Navy recruit in 3 1/2 days!

We are headed to Great Lakes for the 5/18 graduation of recruits and are so excited! Our family is so close; we've never gone 8 weeks without seeing one another.  Can't wait!

KEEP POSTING BUT PLEASE PUT SOMETHING ON "POST TITLE" BOX.

Please input something on the "Post Title" box, preferably less than 10 words; otherwise, the program simply inserts the first sentence of your blog.  It gets annoying and makes it difficult to search by title in case you want to go back and find a useful blog.  KEEP POSTING.  Doesn't matter if no one replies. Even if one person benefits from what you wrote, it's worth the time and effort. Besides, it will benefit YOU just to writ the blog your thoughts/feelings out.

Shipping out tomorrow, I need an anti-inflamitory-- for my eyelids!!

I feel fortunate to have had the past six months with Ryan back in our house. He has gone through an incredible transformation since he started considering and followed through with enlistment.  We know how kids this age(21) just love to scare their moms with their sense of invincibility resulting in wild antics and as worried as I have been about my first born joining the military, as I've watched him grow I realize that joining was a very wise decision on his part. The next six…

Fiance Left 5/7/12

My fiance that I have been with for the past 3 1/2 years has just left for boot camp this Monday 5-7-12 and I feel like I am dying without him here. I have went from spending every waking minute with him to no contact at all and it sucks. I'm trying to stay positive but I still find myself thinking about him and I can't help but notice the swelling of tears in my eyes. Its only been 3 days!!! I feel like time is moving so slow! As far as I know we haven't received his box of things or that…
