Choose your Username.  For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either).  Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username.  While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Make sure to read our Community Guidelines and this Navy Operations Security (OPSEC) checklist - loose lips sink ships!

Join groups!  Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself!  Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility. 

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.  

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

Work hard/success

There are many struggles our children, our sailors, go through. Each step works to define them and to test their metal. I can only use my sailor as an example. 

First he enlisted about 3 years ago. He had a hold in the Dep because his security clearance was held up for 2.5 years! He still went to all the Dep meetings. He forged on. He saw fellow deppers go to basic and come back for recruiting. Still he waited. Still he did not give up.

May 13th

My son graduates from Power School soon, fingers crossed. So many of the Prototype locations are being shut down for maintenance, he doesn't know where he will be stationed or even when. He told me he could be stationed anywhere as a janitor or other. That being said; I am having dreams that he is loaned out to the army and sent to Iran.

Goodbye over Chicago Pizza

The very best advice I've received so far (and I'm sure there will be more to come) was to make sure and have your recruit call from the airport in Chicago before he has to turn in his phone.

When he was on the plane, I sent him a text telling him I miss him and I'm proud. You know, all those encouraging words. I also reminded him to call me when he arrives... and before he arrives. I texted that his big brother tells me that he will be the one to get the first phone call.
