Sunday June 28

Chrissy called me twice this morning and I missed both calls. There was not a good signal where I was at, but I also had it turned off during church. Another Mom said she was going to keep her phone on during church, I think I will do that next Sunday! I keep listening to the messages over and over again! I miss her so much. She told me to"Chill out" and she was fine. She has a small surface fracture, but is not in any pain. She went to chapel this morning with a friend from a "brother… Continue

Half-way there!

Today is June 24th, the Wednesday of the 4th week of Boot Camp, so Chrissy is half-way to her PIR on July 24th! Yeah! I have gotten three letters and one phone call, and hope to get another phone call soon. It has been awesome to hear all the news from other Div. 258 Moms. I know that Chrissy is friends with at least one of the other women. That woman's Mom, LaVonda said that Chrissy sprained her ankle. Please pray for her that she will heal quickly and it will not delay her PIR. And I hope… Continue

What A Great Father's Day!

(Sunday June 21, 2009)

Had a great Father's Day! Yvonne was up at 5:45 a.m. making cheesecake and homemade bread dinner today to be celebrated with Sarah (daughter) and Brian (son-in-law), Trevor (USS Gunston Hall), Branden (NAS Oceana) and Savannah (Navy Wife), and Erene (civilian). Sarah and Brian got me a tripod for my camera (that's why I'm in this group photo). We watched "Time Changers" while Yvonne finished fixing dinner. A good Christian movie! Saturday Evening Fellowship, Food and Fun!

(Saturday June 20, 2009)

Had a great evening with Savannah (Navy Wife), Brandon (NAS Oceana), Erene, and Trever (USS Gunston Hall). We ate hamburgers, chips, and cream cheese brownies and ice cream. We played RISK (haven't played that in a long time)! Then we closed with sharing prayer requests and taking turns praying for them. We all had FUN! Check out the new pictures on our profile page slide show.

A Full Sunday!

(Sunday June 14 2009)

Great Sunday! Enjoyed Sunday School and the Morning Worship service. Pastor Vicker's sermon was was good, not an easy one to hear, but good. God doesn't always say yes when we pray. Sometimes He says no. I do love our altar services where we can pray and minister to each other after the service!

After church it was on to our house for dinner and fellowship. Trever (USS Gunston Hall) got called back in to work, but Savannah and Brandon (NAS Oceana)… Continue

Hot Dogs and Attack Uno!

(Saturday June 13, 2009)

Saturday evening we eat hot dogs and drank root beer floats, then we played Attack Uno! with Savanah and Brandon (NAS Oceana) and Trever (USS Gunston Hall)! Savanah won the game! Then we went into the living room and just talked and visited. Then we shared prayer requests and prayed together. We were really surprised too! We got a telephone call from a former sailor, Sean, who we had not heard from in two years. That was a real treat! We are now friends on… Continue

Rental House

We seem to have many family and friends that want to go to my son's boot camp graduation in September. It looks like it may end up being Labor Day Weekend. Has anyone ever rented a house near the base? Thank you.

Does anyone have a son or daughter going to or has completed their time at Navy OCS in Providence, RI? My son is due to report June 2010 after he graduates from college.

A "NAVY Speak" Question

I'm new to N4Ms & was excited to see the "NAVY Speak" feature because not even my son, a Naval Aviator & in the Navy for a little over 12 years now, didn't know the answer. So I tried the "NAVY Speak" but it didn't know either. Maybe someone out there knows & can tell me. What do the acronyms "CVN" on a carrier & "VFA" attached to a specific squadron mean?
