Day 4

Well myself, my sister, our parents & my husband spent some time with my son's fiancee yesterday. She's such a sweetheart. I just hope everything is okay with her & her family. She had just told her dad last night about being engaged. I know this is gonna be real hard for her because her dad seems to think that mixed relationships don't/ shouldn't work. My dad was the same way when my sister & I were growing up. Our boyfriends couldn't be a different race. I thought (and still… Continue

Made it through boot camp...

My son left on April 26th for boot camp and we both made it through. He is staying in IL for his training. For those moms who are just beginning the anguish I am here if you have any questions, I was clueless when he announced he wanted to join the Navy. I want to help if I can ..

What if...?

This past week, I stayed very busy. I had workshops for my job, and then I went out of town with my mom for a couple of days. By the time I took time to breathe, the week was gone. My Aaron will be leaving for Great Lakes in a few short weeks. If I don't stay busy, I dwell on the fact he is leaving. If I do stay busy, time flies too quickly. It's kind of a "darned if I do, darned if I don't" situation.

This week should be fun. I am still getting the finishing touches for Aaron's party next… Continue

Today was with good day! Went to the pool with Robert's mom and little sister. Now we are relaxing and grilling dinner! I am waiting impatiently for Robert's letters, but I still have about a week! :) It is good to know that I am not alone in this and there are hundreds of girls going through the same thing! I hope everyone is doing okay!

Day 3

I miss him so much. I just hope these 2 months go by real fast. I spoke to my mom today, she said she was at the store the other day with my dad. The music started playing and he broke down and started crying. My son Chris would play his guitar in his bedroom every day, he taught himself to play and even started a guitar club at his high school.

I know this is gonna be really hard on everyone, but I sometimes feel as if he was ripped away from me. I shouldn't feel that way because…

July 1st, 2011

Today was a little bit more of a sad day. I am missing Robert so much and it sucks to know I still have almost 2 months left! I was soooo happy to see his formal letter though. He let us know that he has already written me 3+ letters and is ready to send them this Sunday! The day I get them is going to be the best day!! I am impatiently waiting! :)

I have already written him about 9 letters so he will get a nice stack from me :D

Can't wait!

USS Aircraft Carrier George Washington

Has anyone heard from their Sailor on USS George Washington.  I haven't heard from my son since June 5 and I know the GW was in Australia on June 21.  Please let me know.  Thanks

My son Chris

I am very proud of him for serving. I just got sad the first couple days. It is getting easier little by little. My husband is afraid this will come between us, if I continue to get upset. My youngest son (Justin, he's 16) I know he's feeling right out lost, his big brother isn't here. They'd play games, Chris even taught Justin how to play the guitar. I don't know if I should approach Justin or if I should just let him come to me when he wants. Anyone have any pointers? Thank you

Anyone have a child that arrived for boot camp on 6/28/11?

Anyone else have a son leave for boot camp on 6/27/11. He actually got to Great Lakes on 6/28/11

Yes! He just called!!

I'm so excited!!  He just called to say he loves me!  He was crying and he is homesick.  I never thought he'd get homesick, but he is.  OH My Gosh!!  I am just so happy to hear his voice.  He said no sleep and the reason he got to call was because of security clearance paperwork.
