Sitting outside Corey's door crying. He ships out 8/20 He doesn't know I am here. Son, his room will be empty...

He is 19. He graduated and did the stay home and work but seen quickly that he wasn't getting ahead in life, rather he was working to pay for his gas and insurance with a little left over. He is my middle boy. He has a brother one year older and his 7 year old autistic brother who he has taken care of while his father and I work. His brother knows Corey is leaving but he cant understand why. It is going to be devastating for Michael.

My mom just passed in January. She lived with us.… Continue

Time keeps on ticking

Can't believe we are on the four day count down. Have noticed J is quieter..here with me for supper last night and seemed very pensive. When asked him about how he is feeling says nervous but then quickly added but "I think it's just because I won't know anybody, but that will change quick" Listened to him talk about Christmas and how he hopes he can be home for "at least that day". He will have his send off party on Saturday then we take to recruiters on Sunday afternoon. I keep thinking how… Continue

7/2/13... Off to Boot Camp

You never really completely understand how difficult this is going to be until it happens. You can read or hear other people's stories but until it's your own, it's never really REAL.

He left with 7 other guys and 1 girl. What a great group of kids! We got to the airport about 1pm and their flight didn't leave until 7:25pm. It was really nice to be able to spend that extra time with him. Once your son/daughter swears in they are active duty and you CAN go to the airport with them,… Continue

THE CALL

You know, for a being a scripted phone call, that was the best call in the world!  While she was talking (and I could hear others in the background saying the same thing) I'm like "Keep talking.  I love you I love you I love you I love you..." til she said "Got to go!"

I feel so blessed that she texted me a…

Ship 13 Div 311

Was so happy to get that form letter last Saturday.  Is there anybody else in Ship 13 Div 311?  I've seen some really close but no prize.  Now that I know that I can write, I don't know what to say.  Except, I love you, I miss you and I'm so proud of you.

07/02/13 BC!!

Our daughter's big day is here!  Texted back & forth last night...she was exhausted but happy.  One of her comments was "& i met new people"  Well I should HOPE so.  We didn't raise no wallflower!  Should have asked her some names but wasn't thinking beyond reading her texts and responding. Her "roommate" mentioned did that she was fat & jolly!  So glad for humor and good people. …
