FOLLOW THESE STEPS TO GET STARTED:

Choose your Username.  For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either).  Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username.  While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Make sure to read our Community Guidelines and this Navy Operations Security (OPSEC) checklist - loose lips sink ships!

Join groups!  Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself!  Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility. 

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.  

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

a little stress release

i get his address today!!! my stomach is in knots and i feel sick but im so excited to finally send him letters. i got his box yesterday from his parents house :) he addressed it to me! haha i know lame but very exciting to finally get something of his that says he's still alive and not just a dream lol im so happy today, im hoping to get his PIR date but we'll see how everything goes.  this blogging stuff really does help kinda let all the pain out, im glad i can write letters and just vent… Continue

MEPS

My son made it through the MEPS process and sworn in. He chose the job as a missle tech. I am very proud of him. He leaves for boot camp July 2012 because he wanted to spend his 21st birthday here at home with his family and friends. I love my son dearly.

A week from tomorrow!

I can't believe it will be a week from tomorrow and I will see my son!!! 

It seemed like such a long time ago that I watched him turn and go into the hotel after we said goodbye, but it also seems so short at the same time. I marked the weeks by the mail and got mad when there was a holiday that the mail didn't run because it made it one day later for me to get my letter from him. I still read them all.

Life is changing

My situation seems to be a bit different than those I have read about!  I grew up in Titusville, Fl.  I met a wonderful man who was down on vacation (visiting his Aunt & Uncle who I was friends with).  He was from Ontario Canada.  To make a long story short - we were married 2 years later and I moved to Ontario.  We had 3 children (2 daughters and 1 son).  We raised them to not only be proud Canadians, but proud Americans also.  We established their dual citizenships early on.  My oldest… Continue

I now have to help my husband shovel the snow :-(

Shoveling snow has never been a favorite activity of mine, so when my son was old enough and interested enough to go out and help dad I was more than happy to let him. Now with him off to do his own thing I am back out there.
