DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

My situation seems to be a bit different than those I have read about!  I grew up in Titusville, Fl.  I met a wonderful man who was down on vacation (visiting his Aunt & Uncle who I was friends with).  He was from Ontario Canada.  To make a long story short - we were married 2 years later and I moved to Ontario.  We had 3 children (2 daughters and 1 son).  We raised them to not only be proud Canadians, but proud Americans also.  We established their dual citizenships early on.  My oldest daughter chose to move to my hometown and go to college.  As did my 2nd daughter.  My son has always dreamed of being in the Navy.  A month or so before my mother passed away - we were talking with her and she asked what exactly my son would like to do in the Navy.  He replied and my mom started crying because that is what my dad used to do when he was in the Navy.  He retired shortly after I was born.  So this furthered my son's ambition.  In July, we moved my son down to Florida to live with 1 of his sisters.  He immediately went to the recruiter and we expected him to go to MEPS soon and then we would judge how long we would stay in Florida (when BC would be etc.)  It was a long wait and due to various reasons, we left him waiting to go to MEPS.  He finally got to go to MEPS in late August.  Now it's the waiting for the medical waiver.  I am missing my son and was somewhat hopeful (selfishly) that he would get his waiver and leave for BC before we got back down to Florida.  I didn't want to say that goodbye again.  We are leaving for Florida for the winter in a couple of days....waiver still hasn't gone through - and then there's the trip to MEPS to swear in, pick a job and then wait for BC.  I am really happy that I will get to spend that additional time with my son, but the thought of that goodbye is killing me.  I read others blogs and cry for them.  I hope I will be strong, but know that will be difficult at best.  He knows there will be tears - and is preparing himself for that.  I also miss my daughters everyday.  But it's such a different situation, we skype and talk at least 3 or 4 times a week and I do that with my son now - but dreading that time that I know he'll be away and out of contact for so long.  I am soo proud of him and the life path he has chosen.  I'm not sure if what I have written makes any sense.  But I've shared what's in my heart and head.  I know in the next week, I will be able to hug all my kids and that makes me happy!
