From talking to other friends in the Navy, my son seems to think he may have a say as to where he might be stationed/deployed. He thinks they get a list of locations and can prioritize locations. Does anyone know if this is true? Thanks for any info!

Last night after we had opened presents, eaten a delcious meal and were all settling down I started my routine of looking through the pictures. (I had looked earlier in the morning but my husband had said there were knew ones.) As I went through them one by one seeing some of the recruits smiling, some very serious and others looking like…

This will be the first Christmas that all 5 of our boys will not be together. As I was sitting here this morning writing down what else I need to get for Christmas, it hit me. Our life has changed. I always knew it would, don't get me wrong. I'm not one of those moms that wants everything to stay the same and not want her children to grow up and have their own adventures. It just seems like it has happened overnight. I can remember when they were little and the excitement of Christmas filled…

My family has always done the holidays really big, from presents, food, music & lets not forget the visit from Santa. I know that my baby is no longer a baby and letting go is the hardest. I pray on it each day that I will get the strength I need to get through without feeling so sad and alone. He is an amazing young man and has risen to the top in bootcamp advancing to E3, leading his A school…

I have a question about phone calls home. Are the SR phone calls home made during a certain time of the day for instance, are they made during the afternoon, evenings or at anytime of the day?

Hi everyone,
I was wondering if anyone knows if the recruits that left last week for bootcamp might be allowed to call home on Christmas? It will only be my sons 2nd week there, but I wondered if they would get that opportunity? Any thoughts? TIA :-)
