One more week!!

So one more week and I will be in Great Lakes with my other 2 daughters for graduation!!!

News? Well no news is good news I keep telling myself. Last phone call she was doing well and enjoying it all. She said she hadn't written and apologized, but I understand. I write to  her often enough. All she had to do was get through the initial run and swim to set her mind at ease, after that she wouldn't let anything get in the way. I am pretty blessed with a daughter that will push herself…

Navy Social Media Handbook 2019

I found out from the Navy Operations Security Support Team on Facebook that there is a new edition of the Navy Social Media Handbook for 2019. It is long, and for a varied audience: Leaders, "Navy Communicators", Sailors, Families, Ombudsmen, and Navy Civilians. It informative, and worth the…

Temporary Hold Unit

As a former commander of a unit in the Army, I see that my son isn't given the counsel he needs. Temporary hold is no joke. This is their chosen career and they should be able to seek advice from JAG officer. I fear that he will be out processed soon, separated from his goal. It isn't all happy for these kids. Some need direction. Some need a skill. Many, so many are there to serve, serve their nation with pride in their hearts.

Not all get to stay Navy.

Some will be turned…

Temporary Hold Hell

The Navy has specific things they will waiver. Some they will not. My son's asthma is not bad. He has had very few problems with it over the years. During the Gulf Wars more people were MedEvac'ed for asthma than anything else. I understand the Navy's concern.

He made it. He improved so much through the recruit training. He made it through graduation. He is so proud of himself. We were proud of him. I have tried to guide him to the Chaplains, to JAG, to maybe find that one doctor who…

THU Mom

My son, his dream, his plans. They are going away. He is still fighting to stay in, but they found he has asthma. I know as a former military commander, these things are not the best to have in a unit. Still he made his way through recruit training.

Now he sits. He is fighting, but his spirit is broken. This was his dream. It may be lost

Div 143 PIR date 3/15/19

My husbands bootcamp graduation date is coming very soon, unfortunately I have not recieved the "I'm a sailor" call yet. I know it'll be done after battle stations but I don't know when he'll be doing that.

Div 176

Sons PIR date is 4/12 :) Is there any info for div 176? His boot camp seems short 7weeks & 3 days is this the norm?

My son left for Boot Camp 2-19-19

I received his scripted call at 2033 Cali time.  His "Kid Box" came in exactly 1 week later. I am now waiting on his letter that he said would follow in about a week after the box. I am super excited for him as I know this is something he has always wanted to do. I am waiting to find out his PIR date so I can start looking into arrangements and our options. Trying to find out as much as I can on Graduation. I am reading everything and loving this site! Thank you so much!!!! :)

It was so good to hear her voice. What was even better was to hear her say things were going good and she was enjoying it. She has come so far. I am so happy for her and VERY proud !!!! Now to plan this trip to PIR.

BootCamp

I am thankful for finding this website. My son started his boot camp on 2/11/19. I got the call when he arrived and received his box of personal items but nothing more. How long until I receive a letter with his mailing address? Thanks

Today !

Picked up the mail today and today I received the form letter! Think her box came in today too. Now I can breathe a little easier. I know she still has a ways to go, but being able to write her makes it all a little easier. Knowing she made the first run is a weight off me. So now I can start looking at planning the trip for PIR. As soon as I get the form letter filled out.

New member

I am thankful for finding this website. Our only child, my son started his boot camp on 1/29 and today  marks 2 weeks. It has been a long two weeks and I have not received any communication yet. I am hoping this week we will get a letter. Is there a specific day they are allowed to make their calls.  I got the call when he arrived and received his box of personal items but nothing more.  Thanks

Waiting....again....

So she is back at boot camp! She arrived on Friday (weather held them up). So just waiting patiently to not hear anything until we get the form letter. Hoping all goes well for her this time. I think she will be a little more confident this time. She has already been through that first week once, she KNOWS she can do the run with time to spare. Her confidence should be better this time around at least. So now I will wait......

Finally heard from my Sailor--YAY!!

My Husband left 1/8/19 and after a long 2 1/2 weeks my husband finally got to call home, and I even got my first letter today!! This is the hardest thing I've had to experience, being 8 months pregnant, living on my own for the first time and not having any contact with my husband, but the 10 minutes we got to talk made up for it all! He is doing so good, which is such a relief, he is even in charge of 10 guys in his division! He said getting mail is the best part of the day, but that they…

HOLD days and Baseline PFA

If I understand it correctly, HOLD days are Saturday and Sunday....how does that impact the baseline PFA?  Do those two days count as the five days from arrival or not?  My son left Tuesday, arrived Wednesday early morning, so does he do his baseline PFA on Sunday or Tuesday?  I'm just trying to figure out when I can expect to hear from my baby.

Thanks!

In the dark

Our daughter left over 3 weeks ago (1/2/19) . We have not received a phone call (except the night she got in and all we heard was HELLO and the call disconnected) ,  the form letter, or any letters. I read the FORM letter information and now am wondering if she's not passing the run. Is this common? The recruiter said she can't access her info in the system. Now I realize they can't give us the info. How much longer could it take?

New Navy Wife

Hi All,

My husband arrived at boot camp on 1-8-19. We are expecting our first child 3-16-19, a sweet little girl we plan on naming Emmalynn. Since he left I received his box of clothes but nothing else, no letter, I don't even have his address so I can't send letters. I wish I knew how he was doing, it is so hard!! How do you moms/spouses do it? I found this site in hopes of not feeling so alone in this new lifestyle!
