It's my son's third week at boot camp and I'm waiting for the second phone call. Today was the third week mark, so I thought I might hear from him today. I did not. I did get his second letter yesterday, but it contained part of his front tooth! He had two wisdom teeth pulled and two fillings done, and apparently passed out and chipped his tooth?!! So now has to have a new tooth put in. We just received his address, and we were able to send letters, but they will take 5-10 days to reach him,…

My son is now in his 7th week of boot camp and I am happy to report doing well. Just received a letter telling me his division (Ship 3 DIV 187) has earned 2 more flags (I believe they now have a total of 4) plus they earned 2 pennants. He  go his driver license. He is getting ready for captains cup and battle stations. And his is very excited about receiving his cutlass. I cannot wait to see him in 2 weeks.

Hi, my daughter is leaving for boot camp in Oct. Her chief told us about the big shot that hurts... Lol now she asked me to ask if anyone heard how bad it really is? Also I was concerned about the pulling of the wisdom teeth.. Do they really go dig for them if there not ready to be pulled? And, lastly... At the last recuits monthly meeting with all the future sailors, an alumni of boot camp told them that they make you go into a gas chamber, is this true?

How happy I am to hear my son's voice!!!  Finally I hear his voice and totally assured me that he's fine!!!  Getting used to the hectic schedule.  He told me that he is learning a lot and that he likes it!!!  I am so proud of him; that my heart wants to explode!!!  Moments like this make me feel that I did a good job raising him.  He received all our letters and want us to write as much as we can!!!  

Whew...I found the N4M site yesterday and spent just about the entire day reading blogs, comments and checking out all the "need to know" stuff while impatiently and anxiously awaiting my approval to join to come thru.

My daugther has wanted to join the military for a very, very long time. Now the time is here. She started training with the Marine recruits a year ago (because she wasn't able to join the Navy recruits until she enlisted), turned 18 in March, graduated from HS…

Yesterday we delivered my son to the recruiters. Today I drove into town to the base to see him sworn into active duty. I got teary last night and today, but didn't really cry. I thought I was doing amazingly. Then when I got home my phone had slipped under the seat, and I thought I had lost it. I fell apart. The picture of him before he got on the bus, and the message that told me "see you later momma, I love you" were on the phone. Thinking I had lost it, and I might have to get another…

I am the chairperson for our deployment homecoming. I need ideas! I need ideas for the meet and greet. It is for our submairners so the decor will have to be at the pier... Any ideas will help me! Thanks!!

My Bird turns 19 today!!  Roast and potatoes for his birthday, just what he would've requested. :)

My son graduated boot camp on June 1st.  He wasn't able to get his photos that were taken of him.  Does anyone know who I need to contact or if I can even get his photos?  Thanks for any advice/help!

We finally arrived at bootcamp graduation and boy was I happy to see my sailor!! He has matured over the past 2 months. What a transformation!

Just wondering if anyone video taped any of the ceremony. 

I pray for our sailors as they make their way in this world. I know God has my son under His care and I pray He does for everyone else's son or daughter too!

My son leaves for boot camp 5 Mondays from tomorrow and I am sooo emotional. I go from crying my eyes out as if he were dying on July 2 to being excited for him and the decision he has made about his future. I've considered all of the positives about him being a NUKE in the Navy and yet I still look at it that my baby boy is leaving home and I will not get to see him like most parents do whose kids go off to college at this stage in their lives.

This was presented to me today by my husband's home command at the Family Readiness Day - I was totally surprised and had to try really hard not to cry during the presentation!

  Our  daughter is a pilot and her goal is to go to Pensacola for flight training after graduation. I am so proud of each of these brave men and women.  They are all awesome.

I just got a phone call and pictures.  What a grand day. Letters are wonderful and mean so much but to hear her voice and see her picture was beyond perfect.  I do not know who took the pictures but I would love to give them a big hug.
