I am traveling down to Louisiana to work for the winter, When I told my son that I was doing that he informed me that on his way to his duty station he was going to reroute his trip so he could come home for a day to see me so I told him that i would not be here. I was very sad. So for weeks I have been kinda depressed thinking that my one and only son was going to come home and I wouldn't even get to see him. Then he called me today and told me that he did some checking and discovered that…

I had finally got my daughter to get over the fact her brothers wouldn't be home for Christmas and we were having Christmas when low and behold our oldest boy shows up Dec 1st. Then as I was sitting there telling my hubby I was going to mail our son in the Navy his presents Monday morning our oldest son comes in and says the neighbor wants to talk to us. I am thinking great as I sit here in my pj's. I look up as the door opens and just start crying because there stands my son in his dress…

My daughter left on December 8th for boot camp. I received her box and the graduation letter with a small note. I was really hoping for a phone call around Christmas even though I was sure it wouldn't come. she said she like it very much and it was a great decision but I still want to hear more. Just waiting patiently and preparing for February 10th graduation. I am so proud of her.

My Sailor showed up on the doorstep as our family was sitting down to dinner tonight. Yesterday I was quite puzzled by his lack of communication and had to leave a tearful voicemail for him; turns out he traveled from Pensacola to Portland Oregon, then home to Iowa today. He is so thin! So sure of himself! Handsome and funny. My dad the retired Navy veteran was with us when our sailor arrived at the door. Never have I seen a grandfather so relieved as today. Words failed me and all I…

I miss her so much. This is the first time my husband and I have been separated from our baby (middle child) on a Major Holiday. Opening up gifts without her just seemed weird. We had a blessed day but it was not the same. I wish her will and want her to succeed. My daughter is the most talented, gifted young lady I know. She could have been a model, singer(went to High school for performing Arts) or actor, but she chose the Navy...OH Boy.. I admire her courage. Just what the navy wants. Dad…

My son shipped out for Basic on Dec. 5; we celebrated the holidays at Thanksgiving. Unfortunately, I'm still missing him like crazy and hoping he gets to phone home today.
Is there any reason a recruit would be shipped home midway through basic? and would they notify us if they did? Both my son's father and I glimpsed someone the other night who looked like he could have been our son, but the person disappeared before we could get back up the road. …
