So many questions!

My son Joshua is now halfway thru boot camp in the Great Lakes. It's gone by fast for me but I'm sure he doesn't feel the same. I've received two letters and a phone call from him so far. He sounded good except for a head cold - was eating very well. Joshua is a very strong and determined young man - he's going to be just fine.

Mom on the other hand is alittle anxious about…

Thank you

Throughout the past couple months i have started to come to terms with the new life my heart has chosen for me. Never in a million years did i ever think i would be able to be this strong and hold my head up high, with held back tears as i tell someone that i am a proud Navy Girlfriend. Girlfriend...that word sounds so weird to me these days because i do not feel like a "girlfriend" i feel like a new found woman who has made a promise to a man to keep faith in our relationship and love him…

Finally through MEPS

After spending Thursday and most of Friday at MEPS, K was sent home due to a duplicate file on her with the wrong birth date.  She went back up yesterday and today swore in as an Advanced Intelligence Specialist.  Awesome since Intelligence is where she wanted to be.  She ships out to Great Lakes January 23!

Needless to say, I am…

Streaming graduation videos

Hi, I thought I read some where on this site that there was a place to see streaming graduations.

My son graduates on 9/23, and is Master at Arm.  He said he was participating in two graduations prior to his own.

I was hoping to get a look at what he will actually be doing before I see him at graduation.

Does anyone know where I might be able to view the graduation of 9/9/2011?

Thanks!

Melancholy Day

As if the tenth anniversary of 9/11 isn't enough to set anyone into a melancholy mood, my mind is more focused on the fact that we are now into the final days before my son sets out for boot camp. And as we draw closer to his departure, I find that I burst out in tears over the most stupid, even mundane, things.

Take his laundry, for instance. He started a load in the washer and called me, asking me to please put them into the dryer for him, to be followed by another please of folding…

Waiting

My son went to MEPS in Aug.  Scored fairly well on his ASVAB, passed the physical, and the medical - except they saw that he'd seen a chiropractor...So we had to get the records and statement that he was fit to join and he is now waiting for his medical waiver to come through!  He checks in with his recruiter at least 1x a week to check and see if there's any news of the waiver going through.  Nothing yet.  It's frustrating for him and is making me crazy.  I see by other posts that some people… Continue

I will miss you all

Thank-you for being the glue that held us all together for these pass few weeks, we all needed one another. Yes it will be a tearful moment when the door opens up and our precious children match in but they will be tears of joy.  More than moms and dad's will be proud of the accomplishment our children has done in a few short weeks. I speak as a proud grand parent who helped raise our recruit.  God blees all and good luck to all our children who have become men and women almost over night .  I… Continue

10 Days

Ten days. How did we get to just ten more days to go until my son leaves me for a life unknown? Wasn't it just yesterday that he celebrated his 18th birthday?

No, he turned 18 in January, and on his birthday, he joined the US Navy under the Delayed Entry Program (DEP). I've got to give him credit. He wanted to do this himself, his first major decision as a 'man', so he waited until his 18th birthday when he could sign all the legal documents himself instead of having momma 'co-sign'…

MEPS

I have been good and waited to post to my blog until my daughter had a MEPS date.  I was out of town for the holiday and she called me yesterday (Tuesday) to let me know she will go to MEPS tomorrow and Friday.  The first of many "hurry up and wait" dates is almost here.

K is in college but is so ready to start her Navy career.  She…

Why Blog?

I was asked why I want to write this blog about my son and our experience with him going through boot camp and onto A-School when he isn't even 'in' the Navy yet. That's like asking a pregnant woman why she's keeping a journal when her baby hasn't even arrived. DUH!!

It's a matter of preservation, of keeping a log of everything that's going on, the quick changes that are dealt us, the emotions associated with every step of the process.

One day, we will be able to go back and…
