While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

sign on bonus

I just got my daughters box and I have been reading where you all find some sort of card or something telling you where to send letters and such.

There was nothing in there but the clothes and shoes she was wearing?

So on Tuesday i headed out again to Memphis which is 90 miles away (in the sleet & snow) as i arrived she calls to tell me her flight has been cancelled due to excessive snow in Chicago. Can I Bill the US NAVY for taking my SHOVEL away??

It is snowing at Great Lakes. Lake effect snow. Well, that will be interesting for a lot of recruits from the warmer sun covered spots of the country! Guess what? It is snowing here in New England as well! I must confess my frustration at signing over my shoveling service to the Navy! On to A School!

I got to talk to my wonderful daughter today! She was at the airport waiting on her flight to leave for Missouri. She told me that they had to be up by 12:00 am today and they had been at the airport since around 3 am or so!! Wow. She is excited and a little nervous about her next step. I told her it was a piece of cake from what she has been through. She laughed and agreed. She said her life is going the way it is supposed to.
