FOLLOW THESE STEPS TO GET STARTED:

Choose your Username.  For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either).  Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username.  While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Make sure to read our Community Guidelines and this Navy Operations Security (OPSEC) checklist - loose lips sink ships!

Join groups!  Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself!  Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility. 

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.  

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

It's official! Matt is a sailor!

Just spent an hour on the phone with my new sailor!  Yippee!  He sounded exhausted and excited all at the same time.  Said that Div 924 flags and drumline will take official PIR pic at 730am prior to PIR so if you're in the stands early you may get a first glimpse of your child.

Asked for cell phone and boxers!  Who knew that underwear would rank right up there with cell technology.  :)

Nearing the end of boot camp and the beginning of life as a Navy mom

Hard to believe that almost 8 weeks ago I joined this site a rather sad mama missing my son terribly and today I wait in anticipation for the "I'm a sailor" call.

First and foremost, thank you to all the 'seasoned' moms that post to this site regulary and offered me much guidance along the way.  I remember my first fews days with my 'woe is me' mindset and today I couldn't be farther from that place.  I have come to understand and admire the Navy community and count myself both…

04/10/2012 - Received two letters today from Matt, Yea!

Letter dated 4/5/12 - Div 924 has received all of their fitted dress uniforms and service tans and took their individual pictures.  They can order pics this week.  They have earned the privilege to write more on Tuesdays and Thursdays as well as Sunday. 

Letter dated 4/9/12 - Said that today (4/9/12) begins week 5, day 1.  Div 924 has earned the Academic and I think Athletic flags (couldn't read his writing).  They will be doing fire training/safety this week.  Started practicing…
