OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

Give them wings...and both of you will fly!!!

I wrote this blog post in June/2010 before my son entered boot camp:

"Hey Mom, I want to join the Navy."

"You want to what, with whom, hello, why?

And with those words the roller coaster began, my life turned upside down and my little boy, my only child who I had raised by myself began to grow up. At first, all I could do was cry. He was my only son, an only grandchild. My father had given his life for our country and I thought, "Dear God, not my son." I was…

Today I Met Some Angels!!

Leading a PIR group is for the most part very fun! Soon, this Friday, we will converge on Great Lakes to watch with pride as our loved ones Pass in Review. So here I am calling all those families of Cardinal Company recruits going to St. Louis at the end of August and being sworn in in early September at the Cardinal's game.… Continue

Our Paths May be Different but Our Goals Are Probably Similar...

Since my son decided to enlist I like many other Navy moms have experienced a myriad of emtions. I have cried and cried, mostly in private, sometimes in sadness other times with pride, and still other times simply with the fear of the unknown. i have laughed with my son, teased him about all the cleaning he will do, the foods he WONT be eating and reminded him of how much he likes to sleep and how much I will try to sleep for him. I have read with interest how each Mom deals with the changes…

A Son Growing Up...A Mom Letting Go...Give Them Wings

"Hey Mom, I want to join the Navy."

I was convinced he was making the wrong decision and he was convinced he was making the right…
