2 weeks today

[Nautical Mom]

well, this past 2 weeks have really gone by so fast and yet, sometimes, they seemed to stand still, dead in their tracks...i have written letter's every other day and have posted his address on my fb page and some of my over 400+ friends have written too.  He made Master at Arms and i'm sure there have been times he would have rather slept than taken a chewing out for something someone else has done...i look in his room everyday and go and straighten his clothes that i've covered with plastic...i dust his dresser with such ease and go over the bathroom again and again with disinfectant - making sure the towels are just so on the towel rack...like he is coming home that  evening to use them.  But, alas, he does not, then my heart seems to skip a beat when i look at his cell phone, waiting for it to ring or for my cell to ring and his caller id show up on it...i get on my facebook and want to see a post from him.  His last phone call when he got there, he told me he made it, me loved us, it was really fun and he would talk to me in three weeks...Yes, i'm a proud mom and he was my baby boy - couldn't you tell?  We are empty-nester's now and our world has a bit of adjusting too...even though he'd been away at jr. college for the past 2 years, he'd always lived at home in my mind......NOW, i must let go, as he has a new "love" now~~~it's the Navy and i hear "SHE" is quite hard to compete with, "She" will be there for him, in ways i could never be - YES, it's time to let go and let my son find out what life is really all about......I'll miss you, my baby boy with the pretty blonde curls and you have the bluest eyes in Texas.  Your little fat feet, when you just learned to walk and your sweet smiles and babbles, but most of all, those little arms that used to wrap around my neck when I would bent down to pick you up...May you always know what you mean to me, BUT, may you know and realize what you mean to our Country, Happy 4th of July....i love you~~~ Moma
