Hi Everyone, I was doing fine until this past saturday. I was at my friends daughter's sweet 16, and it hit, all these emotions- all of her memories of being a teenager- I don't understand it. I was doing so good and ended the night in tears and just couldn't stop. Now I'm just really blah- I am really proud of her, and I'm at the point of I don't want her to make me proud, cause she already does- I want her to make herself proud- How do I go on without my best friend?
Fair winds and following seas to all.
day by day...always know she's working hard for you and her country. fair winds and following seas to all our loved ones
I can so relate to how you are feeling! My son leaves for Basic Training in 28 days and I was fine until February rolled around. Now it is just so close. I am going to miss him soooo much. He makes me laugh everyday. The house just won't be the same without him. At the same time I am so excited for him to experience this. He signed in July so this has been a long wait for him on delayed entry.
Proudmom- mine ships on march 5th as an MAA- maybe they'll be together- I've had since April - May of 2012 to prepare- Dep has been long- but she changed her rating, and here we are a month away- What is your Son's rate?
My son leaves for Great Lakes on March 5th as well. Sorry I am not up on the terms yet...lol what is a rate? He is an MAA, is that what you mean? :) We are having his going away party this weekend, that is going to be tough because this will be the last time alot of his friends and relatives will see him for a long time. :( I am so so proud and excited for him, just sad too which to me feels selfish. Its not about me and I keep reminding myself of that but as a mom how can you not be. I don't let him see that though.
proudmom- I sent you a request- I went to your page and saw you joined the San Antonio MA mom's group. Does this mean your son will be a Master At Arms? My daughter is also going to be a Master at Arms- tell your son to join Navydep.com- it'll prepare him for whats to come. My daughter is already on there. We can comfort each other on this journey-wouldn't it be neat if our kids were in the same division? Guess we'll know soon enough-
Fair winds and following seas
Hi! Yes my son is going to San Antonio and will be a Master At Arms. I can't believe how close the date for them to head off to Great Lakes is. I am excited for him to get through boot camp and get this journey started! He is so ready! Boot camp will be tough for those of us left at home but once they get to A school at least we will be able to talk to them every day if we want to. I will let him know about the Navydep.com if he doesn't know about it however I have a feeling they may have shared that at his DEP meetings. I absolutely can not wait for the boot camp graduation ceremony!
hi Proudmom- my daughter is excited that I've found you- she told to you that there's a march shippers group on Facebook she started- and wants him to head on over. She'd like to get to know him. if they all talk now- it'll be easier while in bc and for some of us- MA schooling. I hope they are in the same division- they will probably be in the same class for MA schooling... how are you doing today- I am doing a bit better.
Fair winds and following seas to all- with a big heap of snow for me- oh yea!
Ladies i would like to tell just write to them all the time it is what gets them through boot camp they need your support big time cause they get broke down and u need to lift them back up with encouragement.
Thank you all- really focusing on spending time with her- Had a wonderful night last night- we have rc helicopters now- and our living room is sooo tiny- we had all 4 flying at the same time- it was the most fun...I have already started to write her letters- I am hoping she'll read them at the hotel the night before meps. it's 3 weeks away, and getting harder- I don't want to let her go...
Hope all survived the storm, blessings all...
Writing helps keep you busy and connected to them..and they live for mail call! Cry with us Moms out here, but put on your happy face when writing because they have so much going on getting used to basic that they don't need to be worrying about us at home. I think the other thing that helped me was to stay very busy. It's hard some days, we're left behind and your daughter is off on her life adventure! Hang in there, Mom.
