For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

**UPDATE 4/26/2022** Effective with the May 6, 2022 PIR 4 guests will be allowed. Still must be fully vaccinated to attend.
**UPDATE as of 11/10/2022 PIR vaccination is no longer required.
**UPDATE 7/29/2021** You now must be fully vaccinated in order to attend PIR:
In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

Boot Camp
My son Patrick left for Boot Camp Aug.1st.
Called home that night (Aug.1st) Saying he made it there. Box will come home with his clothes. We call in 3 weeks.
Box came home Aug.7. Clothes,cell phone, and shoes. Hope for note of some kind. No nothing. The next thing I was
waiting is a letter from him. My son not writer. Hoping he would send something. Waiting and waiting. Aug. 10 In his own hand writing, his letter came home. PIR/ Graduation information and address. Still knowning Patrick is okay. I'd mailed my letter to him with prepaid phone card. You can find these at Wal-Mart were you check out (ATT cards). Now just waiting on him to call home this weekend.

Thanks for the friend request. I have been writing my son everyday since he left. It helps me fill the void I'm feeling with not having him at home. I'm still waiting on the form letter. Hopefully it arrives by the end of the week so I can send my stockpile of letters to him, LoL! Stay strong Mom! :)

So many emotions you will experience. Most of these young kids have never been letter writers. But they will now. It's what passes time. And I believe it could be a requirement. At least for my daughter, it was. Write daily and send daily. Even if it's only a few lines. They need this. Sometimes days are tough, and just a note from home is what makes the day. Stay positive! Be his cheerleader.
You probably will not get a phone call until his 4th week. This is normal. I found our PIR group on here and kept up daily and when the calls came in, members started posting. We were all by our phones and ready.
It will seem like forever. But start making plans to go to PIR. This is the most amazing moment you do not want to miss.

Hi Mickie! My son arrived BC Aug 1st also. Ship 13 div 309. I got lucky so very lucky and received a phone call from him Sunday, August 12th around 4 pm. He had won a rope tieing competition and earned a 10 min phone call. I was told that it would be 3-4 weeks or more to hear from him so i was so lucky to be outside and have my phone with me, which i have pretty much glued to me, but wasnt doing my best keeping it glued since i thought it would be longer before i heard from him. Anyway, i feel so fortunate, he sounded so positive about everything said it was harder than anticipated and said time is going slow but i told him you almost have 2 weeks behind you not just one day.....anyway the conversation was positive so what i am saying as i get carried away is to be patient, know he is in good hands. I was just so very lucky to get that call! What ship an div is he? we are from big city in SE texas can probably figure that out.

Hi Leisa! Glad you wrote. My son in ship 13 div 312. going on 2 weeks and waiting for a call. Every time the phone rings, I just might think it's him. I write letters or send cards. I even sent card from one of our cats to him. To cheer or get a laugh at it. His PIR 9-28. I have a picture of him on my mouse pad. Say hello, talk to him,even have my moments but I still miss him. We live a small town in South Carolina,Western York County.The Navy Base near me is 3 hours in Charleston,SC.
