Well my son Eric is off to boot camp, this I have to say was the hardest thing I have ever had to do in my lifetime, letting go. I am a single mom and devoted my life to my two sons Eric 20 who just left to boot camp today, and Ryan my 15 year old. I could see the fear in his eyes and the little boy staring at me begging me to say don't go, I wanted very much to say its okay come home you don't have to go, but for the first time I did exactly the opposite, I said not going is not an options for you son you may hate me now but when boot camp is said an done you will THANK ME for tell you that there was no turning back. It broke my heart and believe you me I was an uncontrolable water faucet.. How does one recover from that .... He is now in the Great Lakes beginning a new chapter in his life... I love you Eric and I am so proud of the man you will become....

I am sure it was the hardest thing to see him go. And I'm sure that I will be feeling the same as you. But I know that you have done the best thing as I will have to do with my son soon.
I hope to keep in touch with you and give you support due to my son is in the early stages still.
He is taking his physical tomorrow. He wants to be a navy corpsman. He just graduated from high school. So tomorrow my husband and I will find out if there is a corpsman job available...

I will pray for you and Eric....
I've been getting myself ready to let go since he's been talking about it since September of last year, but even then it still is hard.
I know it is hard. I believe it is the hardest but the best thing that you can do for your son. You

When my son was at MEPS 2 weeks ago there wasn't a corpsman job in our region so initially my son was QNJ which mean Qualified No Job...he decided to go Aircrew as an AE which is electronics the next week and his 8 months boot camp wait became 2 months...I tell you this to ready yu for the roller coaster...lol. Tell your son not to get discouraged if the job he wants isn't available right away...it will happen...my son said some boys in his DEPPERS waited 8 or 9 months to get their job...so remember the phrase "hurry up and wait". I hope this helps.
